Moments ago, I read that the Denver Broncos fired Mike Shanahan, their head coach for 14 seasons. What?
So what if the Broncos lost three in a row and a playoff spot. Their defense is terrible and the real cause of missing the playoffs.
Just ask the Chargers, who hung up 52 points on them in the teams' last regular season game. Matter of fact, 7 different teams in 8 games put up 30 points or more on the Bronco's D, including Oakland in a 31-10 Denver loss.
Shanahan's offense, on the other hand, did quite well despite playing SEVEN Running Backs during the season becuase of injuries. Jay Cutler did fine behind center, and the offense has nowhere to go but up with youngsters such as Eddie Royal, Cutler, Brandon Marshall and their many RBs.
The firing of Shanahan was unnecessary. All the Broncos needed to do was draft defense next , and they would be a good team for a few years.
Now, they need a head coach in an already competitive market with 4 teams needing them. Cutler, after learning under Shanahan for 3 years, has to transition to a new head coach.
Rough times are ahead for the Broncos, unless they can find a coach who can fit all the pieces together quickly.
