I want to take this opportunity to wish a Happy and Prosperous New Year to each and all who read this. This Cowboy fan is not happy with his team, but I am blessed in many other ways. I cannot control what my team does, or any other team, much like any fan of the greatest sport in the world, and that's professional football. However, we can look forward to a new year, and hopefully a healthy and prosperous one.

In a perfect world, fans are as competitive with other fans as their teams are with other teams. After each game, people shake hands or congratulate the winner, and then go on to the next one. However, I doubt that will ever happen. Too much anger, name calling and viciousness in a lot of these blogs, because of deep hatred for one team or another. Even tho I root for the Cowboys and have done so for over 40 years, I am a fan of the NFL and the game of football period. I will sit and watch the Giants, Eagles, Redskins, Etc..yes, even the Lions....... play on any given Sunday, just for the fact I love the game. I don't need to hate any of the fans or any specific owner,  (well, I am not really thrilled with ours...lol)  because as I said, I love the game.

When the Cowboys got their butts handed to them on a platter the other day by the Eagles, I could have ranted and raved and cussed and screamed.  Or worse yet, went blogging and cussing out Eagle fans. Would that have changed anything? No, not at all. The Cowboys wouldn't have won the game regardless of any action of mine. I would have just PO'd a lot of people I don't know, never have seen or met, and I am too old for kids games like that. I enjoy blogging and exchanging ideas and comments with people as long as they can refrain from calling me a cowturd or something. That kind of stuff is not necessary.

The Cowboys did  not deserve to go to the playoffs. Plain and simple. They had it in their hands. Not just once either....but they had 2 chances at the end. The Eagles showed everyone who wanted it more, so they took it. Congratulations, Eagles and  fans on your team's perserverance. I won't say who I'll be rooting for in the SB, or any of the playoff games. Actually, it won't really matter........just give me an exciting game.......no blowouts or 3 yards and a cloud of dust, but a nail biter would suffice.

I wish I could say my team learned something from this ...."dysfunctional" year, but I have a feeling they haven't. Whether they ever win another SB or not, is beyond my control. My dad was a die hard Cowboy fan too. He died 2 days before Thanksgiving, and I watched a few games with him as he lay in the hospital dying. So, I think there are more important things with our lives than cussing out other fans for no other reason than because they are fans of a team that is disliked. That is just my opinion. Maybe someone will change their attitude in some of these blogs and keep things in perspective. They are just teams.......men playing a kids game.

Again, I wish all of you a very Happy New Year's......and in the immortal words of Mr Spock....live long and prosper...........~~grins~~
