In December of 2005 when the Boston Red Sox Acquired pitchers Josh Beckett and Guillermo Mota and third baseman Mike Lowell from the Florida Marlins for infielder Hanley Ramirez and pitchers Anibal Sanchez, Jesus Delgado and Harvey Garcia Theo Epstein was not the GM of the Red Sox. In fact it was Ben Cherington, the director of player development, and assistant GM Jed Hoyer who were the acting co GMs. Theo has been said to have been against the trade as he should have been. Yes you do go after top of the rotation pitchers but the top guy in your organization for the past 3 years i don't think it's to smart seeing how the marlins were just cutting payroll. There were other players that would have been far easier to give up if your the Res Sox but to new Gms wanted to make a splash and wanted to do it quick. Now there are reports the Red Sox want him back and I couldn't agree more but i would be careful as to how much to give up if a package highlighted by Jacoby Ellsbury and Clay Bucholtz cant get it done then i think you have to walk away from that. Just so we are clear though Clay Bucholtz will be a solid #2 pitcher with the ability to be a #1 and Ellsbury will get back into how well he was playing at the end of 07 and beginning of 08 so don't just think cause they had an off year that they should be just traded away for one player. Don't forget the Red Sox could have had Johan Santana last year if they wanted  but would not include Clay Bucholtz in any package.

Fantasy baseball for fantasy dreamers. The Marlins won't trade Ramirez because of his contract. Bucholz a solid #2 and maybe #1??? That's not fantasy that's insanity! He has to get out of AAA ball first. And Ellsbury, average at best with a bad attitude.
Please it's obvious your a Sox fan, but at least deal in something close to reality. If you're not going to learn about baseball try and keep from polluting cyber space with your adolescent drivel.
