This is not really a post of my opinion at all. This is a plea. Someone please tell me why Stafford gets so much love from pro scouts.
He has the physical tools, anyone can see that. However, as we have seen over and over and over, physical tools aren't everything in the NFL. See: Andre Ware, and many others.
Someone please tell me what everyone is drooling over. Where is the leadership? The decision making? The John Parker Wilson bangs?

You don't have to be an outright winner to be a good pro. In fact, being too good at the college level might be bad for the pro level. Just look at Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. Peyton struggled against your Gators for no good reason and Tom, we're on a first name basis, struggled as a Wolverine. Matt Cassel never got a chance behind Palmer and Leinart, but look at him now. Leinart isn't even starting for his own team, and Palmer only did well in college b/c of his senior year. The other 2 or 3 years Palmer stunk. Even Matt Ryan was not uber-successful at Boston College. He looked good, but his team did not win 'em all.
I agree that his leadership skills could be better b/c there's always been this air about him like he was better than others, and his decision making could be improved to always instead of sometimes.
The pros like what they see b/c he does have a very very good arm, and they feel like they can coach him to have the decision making and leadership. Apparently Richt and Bobo weren't able to do that well enough. As long as the kid gets his head on straight, he has the physical tools to be something good in the pros.
His hair could use a little something.

I see your point and it makes sense. He has improved tremendously from season to season. And it helps that he put down the cheeseburgers and got on a treadmill. He was much more mobile and he looked a lot more confident moving around.
Maybe his first NFL camp might knock some sense into him so he loses that cocky attitude though.
All that said, I think if I'm the Lions and Sam Bradford is available, I'm going with him.
