It was certainly a sad day for me when I had found out that the Cardinals had allowed their ultimate utility-man, Aaron Miles, to slip away. He became a free agent and he expected the Cardinals to at least be interested in him. The Cards said 'no thanks' and let him walk away. Miles is one of those players that hustles, has great fundamentals, and leaves everything out on the field. Plus, in recent years he has become quite productive for the Cardinals.
Then I found out this week that he had signed with the Cubs. Miles is the kind of player that can be the glue of a team, and with the Cubs, that scares me. I think that he could have a wonderful year with a team like that. Miles made a comment that really caught my eye- "I want to play the game the right way..." To me, that sounds a little bit like there could be something wrong going on in the Cardinals clubhouse. I've always been a huge La Russa fan, he really knows the game, but this strikes me as fearsome. Maybe this is purely speculation, but is there something going on in the STL?
