Now, I am not bashing those life-long Utah fans. This is not directed at you, as you deserve all the praise your team is receiving.
Rather, this is for all those bandwagon homers. This is for the ones that live in Utah who have been BYU fans, or Texas fans, or USC fans, or Nebraska fans, (well, you know where I'm going with this). This is for all you people who are like Mark May and jump on any bandwagon that comes along. This is for those that have left Texas Tech and joined Utah.
Please. Come on. Who are you fooling? It has been no surprise, in fact, I called it in a throwdown, that Utah avatars would begin to pop out of the woodworks. I called it that Utah throwdowns would be started proclaiming Utah as the best team in all the land.
I am currently involved in one right now: http://www.fannation.com/throwdowns/show/274440-utah-is-the-1-team-in-the-nation?category_id=4
So, nice job Utah. You beat the likes of a TCU team who was destroyed by Oklahoma. You beat an Oregon State team who then beat USC, but lost to Oregon (in this logic, Oregon is better than USC, even though the actual game shows differently). You beat a decent BYU team; decent, nothing more. You beat an Alabama team that was number 1 for five weeks, but beat several overrated teams, such as LSU, Clemson, Georgia, and Auburn.
You really think Utah is better than South California? How about Oklahoma? Or Florida? Hell, even Texas?
Did Utah fluke win over Alabama? Maybe, maybe not. Time will tell just how good Alabama is. If Oklahoma destroys Florida, than Alabama was overrrated.
One last point to make. An undefeated season does not give the right to say "We are number 1." Where was this a few years back when Utah was undefeated? And lets not forget Auburn's undefeated season. The homers proclaimed the team to be number 1, but homers do not vote in the AP poll or take any part in the BCS.
If you really believe you are number 1, then schedule the likes of USC, Texas, Florida, and Oklahoma year after year after year. Undefeated means nothing if twenty other teams can play your schedule and go undefeated. You want to to have shot at the BCS championship? Apply for admission in the Big XII or the Pac 10. Go undefeated through one of those conferences, then come talking.
I lied, once more thing...since when does the number 6 team beating the number 4 team mean that 6 jumps up to number 1 overnight?
