Could it be, and I think that it might, that the only reason Bill Parcell's was even considered by Jerry Jones was because Parcells looked like a pretty nice prop BEFORE the tax election to build the new Cowboys stadium was held?
Now, Jerry Jones has what every other egomaniacal, egocentric sports franchise owner would ever dream to want, his or her very own, JerryWorld.
Now that the Cowboys are poised to open the 2009 season in the new Jones Palace, Bill Parcells is long gone, along with other key "former" personnel like Todd Bowles, Tony Sparano (1-15 Dolphins to playoffs), great scouting talents, and others.
The Dallas Cowboys are now back to a non-authoritative coach, Wade Phillips (who happens to be a good man), who like Chan Gailey, Barry Switzer, and Dave Campo, has no NFL head coaching acumen to speak of.
After Wade Phillips, if he hasn't already left the building and waiting in the wings is Jason Garrett. Oh, Garrett never has been a head coach in the NFL has he??? Well, there he goes again that Jerry Jonester! Continuing to hijack my beloved Dallas Cowboys by selling his snake oil again with the Ivy league educated, offensive prodigy, former Troy Ailman backup, Jason Garrett.
There's been no serious consideration for a head coach here in Dallas since Jimmy Johnson and Jerry continues to "pitch" his bug-eyed head off to the fans of Dallas hoping like a Razorback surrounded by a mother-load of mud pits that the fans continue to buy what he's selling.
Well, here's to hoping that Cowboys fans are tired of slipping in the "oil" and get serious about boycotting this organization until "Football Jones" decides to hold himself accountable the way he's held his faux head coaches accountable - "What have you done for me lately?"
Let go of the dollar (and the ego), Jerry, and let some color come back to your knuckles!
And treat the narcissism while you're at it!

LMFAO here blackcloud and this time I mean it! Watching JJ's skin tight, bug eyed face pacing the sidelines or in the owners box is downright enjoyable. This Arkansas boy has tarnished the Cowboy's star...it's no longer "America's Team", leaving the rest of us non-fans enjoying his show. Dallas use to install fear in thier opponents with many outstanding players and coaching talents but that was long ago...pre coach/GM Jones. Has anyone ever noticed that the last dozen years or so reminds them of Bill Murray's film Groundhog Day?!

Good lord dude, Jerry Jones gets no credit for hiring the right staff and pulling off deals that built the team of the 90's huh?
So he gets no credit for that...that is all Jimmy? Yet, he gets all the blame for where they are now?
Jerry Jones is a passionate owner who will take risks....I would rather have a risk taker as an owner, than a conservative owner any day of the week.
Dallas will have a flood of money coming in from that new stadium and Dallas is just under the cusp of taking that next step.
It could be the coach, or the offensive coordinator or just the mix of talent in place.
Either way, Wade is a solid coach...def more suited to being a D-coordinator.
I agree with Jerry on this one though...continuity right now is more important to this team.
Give it one more season and if things dont click, you will have Shanahan and Cowher waiting.

What Jones has done is make the 'Boys the laughing stock of the NFL. I wonder just how fun it was for the Rams, Cardinals, Eagles, Giants (the first time), Pittsburgh, and Baltimore and their fans, for these teams to beat to a pulp and embarrass the Cowboys? The Lions' fans claim that their team is the laughing stock of the NFL, but I beg to differ. Their team was not expected to contend for anything. The Cowboys were, and preseason favorites to make it to the SB, which I disagreed with anyway.
0-16 isn't something to be proud of, of course, but neither is being beaten like the 'Boys were when there is immense talent and good players galore on this team. Come on now.........Miami, Baltimore, and Atlanta...... 3 rookie coaches and two of them have rookie QB's and they all out performed the Cowboys. They made the playoffs, and one even beat the Cowboys. Blame it on the coaches? Of course, but who hired the coaches? What do you expect from a owner/president/general manager/coach/offensive genius/defensive guru who hires the offensive coordinator before the head coach? Or makes comments about "even bad publicity is good for the Cowboys"? That should tell you something right there.
BTW, the 90's are long gone and is history. We do not play in the past, or otherwise we'd still have Clint Murchison as the owner, Tex Shramm as the general manager, and so forth.
I'd like to know how he will have a flood of money coming in from the new stadium if he has NO ONE buying tickets? Have you checked out those prices? I'm afraid that Mr Jones has alienated a lot of his fan base, judging from all the blogs and articles I have been reading since mid season. People are mad.......and not just a bit PO'd. Recently he made comments on how he regrets some things he did in the past, such as firing Landry the way he did. Sounds like he knows people are mad and he's trying to get back on their good side, because without fans, he cannot sell his product. Do you really believe Cowher, Shanahan, Holmgren, or any other "good" coach will agree to come here and just be a coach? Like Parcells said, if he is going to cook the meal, then he wants to buy the groceries. These other coaches are no different. You have the right to believe as you wish, but the majority of Cowboy fans are really becoming disillusioned by this owner, and I am for one. 40 something years of watching and supporting this team, and this is what it's come down to. This continuity you speak of, could very well be another 9-7 season next year, or back down to three more 5-11's. One cannot get more continuity than 3 consecutive 5-11 seasons. Sarcastic you say? You bet. Disappointed? You bet. But, I will watch and see what he does this coming off season and next year. I am not giving up on the 'Boys, but I'm not getting my hope up just to be disappointed once again. We will see, won't we?

A tip of the hat to blackcloud77. Thank God that Jerry isn't into power politics. Can you imagine Jerry not blowing up the world, just to assure his name permanently etched in the history books? Jerry's ego? Harness Jerry's ego and the energy crisis forever solved. I remember with relish, the story about Jimmy Johnson telling the strutting showoff, Jerry Jones to get the Saudi oil geek off of his sideline at a Cowboys game. How that must have boiled the alcohol fueled brain of Jones, being told what to do in front of the oil Sheik he was trying to impress. Haw haw haw!

Yes, we will see...
Dallas had more issues than one can lay blame to the head coach is my argument.
Jerry gets ripped consistently for a variety of things but ZERO credit when things actually click.
People who blame TO or Wade are misinformed.
Dallas had a rough season with injuries and to key players. Yes, injuries are part of the game, but a loss to StL? With Romo, I would assume that doesnt happen and guess what, Dallas makes the playoffs and maybe beats the Vikes...who knows?
I would not classify losses at Arizona and Pitt as beaten to a pulp, but I understand your pain in the Rams, Giants, Ravens and Eagles losses....like I said above, 2 of those losses came without our starting QB...
Dallas really needs to pass protect better and stop the blitz....that falls on the offensive line coach for keeping guys zero'd in and Garrett to call for extra protection when necessary.
Sending 5 out in coverage and then not having enough time to throw, unless it is from your back is how teams beat up on Romo and ultimately the Boys.
We can fire off shots at Jerry, Wade, Romo, Flozell, TO, injuries, etc-etc-etc....but at the end of the day, if your QB is on his back, or fumbling because protection broke down and he is scrambling his **** off or he is hurt on 3 different occasions then it falls somewhere on the OLine.
Quite frankly, Jerry is better off taking one more season and then if this team fails again, go after Cowher and his staff or bring in Shanahan.
I would love to see them this year, but it appears neither is interested in coaching again right now...so I really do not think there is much better out there that would call for a complete overhaul of the coaching staff at this time.
My opinion may not be popular, but makes sense if you are striving for a hard nosed coach like Cowher....

I agree with you on a lot of things you bring up...but the whole correcting starts from the top from what I had said earlier.
........Jerry Jones does NOT play the game, of course. What happened in those losses were because of poor play by the team and silly coaching. They played better last year, and could have very well went 15-1, with the one loss to NE. The rest of those games were winnable. They should have kept their noses to the grindstone and pulled back when the season was over, then take their vacations in Mexico, or rest certain players. These guys get paid an exhorbitant amount of money...........to take vacations, or rest major players during the playoffs?
The core of the team did not change, other than add a few from the draft. People have speculated that one reason for "The Collapse" was because Felix Jones got hurt early. That in itself is a crock. Felix Jones was not on the 13-3 team last year, so how could he have caused this collapse? His injuries only caused people's expectations to crash.
Tony Romo became a celebrity QB, and was advised not to do so, but he's done it anyway. Anything any one particular player did this season was scrutinized. Especially after Romo got hurt and Noodle Arm Johnson strutted his stuff. The injuries, of course, was a big part of "The Collapse", and they also played a big part of last year as well, being there was very few, if any.
In my humblest opinion, things can be fixed, but these people have to get on the same page. They should be held accountable for their "indiscretions", and that's a catch all phrase for whatever you want it to be, i.e. late for meetings, etc. Wade Phillips, or whoever the coach, makes a decision, then it should be in concrete. When Romo waved off the punting team on that 4th and inches, all he did was undermine the coach's decision. Who is the coach there? Sure wasn't Wade, because he allowed it to happen. And, of course, the O line. I agree, Romo cannot throw from laying on his back, but last year he was doing some fancy footwork. This year, he was trying to be like Brady. He said as much during the past off season. Romo is NOT Brady, Staubach, or even Favre. Even a blind man could see how much pressure was being sent, but the same ol plays were being called over and over again. I didn't see many roll outs, but I did see a lot of 3rd down and longs, and too many 3 and outs. This coming from basically the same people who brought you a 13-3 record last year. But, then Sparano helped Garrett with play calling last year.
You really think Cowher, Holmgren, or Shanahan could work miracles with this bunch? Not even taking into consideration whether they could co exist with Jones. Jones, in his infinite business wisdom, could have waited til this coming year to re sign Owens. But, he didn't. He could have waited til the end of the season to get Roy Williams, the wide receiver, and still have those draft picks. But, he didn't. We needed help in the secondary at the time when he signed Williams, which made no sense at all. Jones said that even bad publicity is good for the Cowboys............I disagree with that.
It all starts at the top....Jones and Phillips makes these decisions, and coddles these millionaire players, and let them do as they wish. Maybe, just maybe the past 2 games really knocked some sense into someone's head. If not, then it's going to be another long season. It should have started at the end of last season.

Yes, way way way too many 3 and outs and 3rd and longs...
I do not think miracles are needed with this bunch, just better play calling. A better play caller would have given Romo more time to throw and when he does, he will tear you apart.
Granted, Romo has become a celebrity, but that would not have kept him from having to run for his life and fumble the ball after being chased down due to lack of pass protection.
Sparano obviously helped Garrett and it showed.
Give me 1 more season, with hopefully a healthy Romo all the way and I think Dallas can get back to the top...jeesh, its not like they fell that far from it.
Look back over the games, the Rams loss would not have happened with Romo in there and you saw what we did to the Giants when he was healthy. The Cards game was super close and went into OT plus the nailbiter in Pitt and the 2 big runs vs the Ravens.
If you count em', there are 3 games that Dallas could have won...that changes things from 9-7 to 12-4...granted, in the real world you wont win them all, but heck, we had NO tight games go our way this season.
Like I have said on several different blogs...it is not TO, or Romo or Wade...what it comes down to is pass protection and injuries...we fix the pass protection and dodge massive injuries next year and Dallas gets to 11 or 12 wins and maybe makes a playoff run.
Roy Williams to date has been a bust, but give him next season...plus, if you add it up, even the top passing teams in the league can really only have 2 1000 yd wide outs and Dallas already had 2 between TO and Witten. After those 2, there are NOT many balls to go around amongst Roy, the running backs, Crayton, Bennett and Austin.
We will see next year, but I think good things are in store.

Jerry is waiting for NFC Conference Championship week to fire wade. And then hire Mike Shanahan during Super Bowl week. To make big news and steal the spot light from the Super Bowl teams. All media outlets will cover this story all week of Super Bowl. Espn will cover the story and hate on the Cowboys for fire Wade and Garrett. Jerry is a business man and markets the Cowboys pretty good.
