This is the classic NFC East showdown that the NFL was hoping for.

The Eagles are on a roll, on both sides of the ball, and are essentially playing with "house money", which always makes a team dangerous.

The Giants are the defending Super Bowl Champions and earned the Number 1 seed and home field advantage.

I respect the Eagles team (not their "classy" fans, of course) and expect to see a close game, but here is why I think the Giants will win:

1.  The Eagles 20-14 victory over the then 11-1 Giants was a relatively meaningless game for the G-Men and it meant everything to the Eagles.  The Giants were due for a clunker and yet they were still just one dropped pass from winning that game anyway.  This upcoming game simply should not be metered by last month's Eagles victory.

2.  McNabb, while on a roll lately, is known to be erratic.  The stereotypical fair-weathered Philly fans were calling for his head just a month ago and will be doing so again seven days from now.

3.  The Giants are rested, a very important factor considering the fact that certain key players got some much-needed healing time (Jacobs, Boss).  We will, however, miss "our team's answer to T.O." (Plaxico BurrASS).

4.  The game will be in our barn.

5.  Coach Spags held the greatest offense in the history of this sport to just 14 points and despite the subsequent departures and injuries, their defense today is equal if not better.  Surely they'll be able to contain McNabb!

6.  The Giants game plan, simplified, will be to (a) protect Eli and (b) contain Westbrook.  If the Giants succeed on both of those fronts, it will be something along the lines of G-Men 27, Eagles 17.
