Despite the trash talking Gator and SEC fanboys, I find it difficult to dislike the Florida team that will oppose my beloved Sooners for the national title.  Although the press has an unprofessional man-crush on Tim Tebow, watching him play it is understandable.  Tebow is fun to watch, a throw back player who one opposing coach compared to Bronko Nagurski, although a comparison to the recently deceased Sammy Baugh might be more appropriate: Tebow has a golden arm.  He wears his religion as well as his emotions on his sleeve, but there are worse faults, and he seems to be a genuinely exemplary young man.  In general all the Gators I've heard interviewed have been pleasant, a bunch of kids having fun on the football field.

Wish I could say as much of Gator fans, and SEC fans in general.  They should change the mascot to the Boors.  Actually I've been unpleasantly surprised by the amount of Sooner hate out there:

Tebow SHOULD have won the Heisman but 150+ small minded, inbred voter in the Mid-west and south west, left Tebow off the ballot.

Just to let you sooner fans know that Ok means Ok not Oklahoma I know how dumb you are in that state.

they ought to get the Detroit Lions and teh Oklahoma Sooners football players to all pose together seeing one team can't win one game all year and teh other team just can't win a bowl game. lol They could title the poster the ophers 0-21 combined teams.

Oklahoma will be known as the loony sooners losing in bowl games. Say that 10 times real fast sooners by the time you get it right the game will be over and your sooners will be losers once again.

And today is a rather quiet day.  I expect it will pick up before Thursday's game.  Even on a feel good human interest story about Oklahoma recruit Ronnell Lewis, from a small town team that plays eight man football, they couldn't resist:

He should feel right at home at OU. They play 8 man ball now. Or at least in the Sugar Bowl they did.

"Chokelahoma" and previous failures in bowl games seems to be a favorite theme.  I can't figure out how the fortunes of a team from 2003 or 2004 has anything to do with this years team.  In college ball players rotate in and out in four or five years.  But since we're on the subject, in 2004 Oklahoma lost a close game to LSU (the Sugar Bowl game reference above).  Pit any of the top teams in college football together in any year and either team can win.  No shame there.  In 2004, OU got blown out by a Southern Cal team many believe to have been the greatest college football team of all time.  In 2005 a 7-4 Oklahoma squad beat a 10-1 Oregon team in the Holiday Bowl, dispelling the myth that they've lost four straight bowl games.  In 2006 Oklahoma lost a wild overtime game to Boise State, but remember that was the Oklahoma team that had started the season losing its starting quarterback to scandal and really wasn't supposed to do much anyway.  Moreover, Boise State, who returned more starters than any other Division I team, felt it had something to prove after being snubbed in the polls despite having finished their season undefeated--wonder if, after Utah drubbed Alabama this year, voters will start taking these teams seriously.  And then there was last year.  Oklahoma got soundly beat by a better, underrated West Virginia team.  It happens.  So where is the "Choke" in Oklahoma?

I'm sure some Gator fan is going to comment "this year's BCS Championship Game".  But to keep a moron in suspense, how could they choke if Florida is a better team?

Choke on that one.

Florida is the favorite, so they'd choke by losing.

OU hasn't won a BCS game since the 2002 season; I think that's more why they're known as "Choke-lahoma."

I hope Florida has hubris and OU has none until after the game.

The only thing close about the LSU- OK game in 2003 was the final score. The only thing Stoops could do right was thrown his visor!!

The Gators will have no trouble ripping apart the Looser Sooners....

On all the message boards I have frequented the 'choke' label was by far more often applied by disgruntled U of Texas fans, who felt they should have been the Big 12 chosen representative. However, there will be people who say those type of things from any team, but I am not one of them, though I am a Gator fan. All of that previous year stuff is history anyway. Gators are favored but by a small enough margin that it is almost a toss up. I don't expect either team to choke. Let the best team win without some horrible officials call interfering with the result. My main concern as a Gator fan is the hurry up offense which could both tire and confuse the defense.

Joseph,
The Texas fans would be berating the Sooners no matter what happened; we're used to it and give as good as we get.

You're a classy Gator fan. I'm sure there are a lot out there, its just the louts who get themselves noticed (see Sandy Underpants above).

I agree, let the best team (on that night, which is always the case) win. Either way, we'll have a worthy national champion.

Personally i'm a die-hard fan of the SEC and even though they demolished my dawgs i want Florida to win. I'm not going to be one of the average guys insulting the sooners. They're a good team. If both teams actually show up to play then this will be an interesting game to say the least.

JTCDawg,
Living in OKC, you better no insult the Big Red ;-)

I lived in Shawnee and worked in OKC for a lot of years. Wonderful what they've downtown with that MAPS project. I was sad to leave The Brick.

Although I am obviously a Sooner fan, I'm hoping both teams play up to their potential. As you note, that could be special.

Go sooner's lets keep up the winning in the Big 12, Gayter fan's want to say they are faster well let me tell you I was at the Cotton Bowl and Joklahoma is not a slow team to say the least, a gayter fan tells me Teblow circumsizes **** over in the third world. Well he better circumsize defenses like he circumsizes **** or that fast Offense of Joklahoma will whip yo a**! Rmutt your right Texas and Blow U fans go at it like cats and dogs, but we love it...right? It makes the world go round, although i was at the Fiesta bowl and a Sooner fan greeted us good luck for the bowl game so i will pass the tourch beat those gayters for Blow U and Texas because if you do we might split the hardware! hey if i'm going to dream i'm dreaming big, but really good luck.

Sooner or later, Oklahoma has to win a bowl game! Lets hope they make a game of it tonight.
May the best team win!

Oklahoma was given the Big 12 south championship per the rules of the Big 12. OU destroyed Mizz and got their shot at the National Championship.
Bob Stoops has renamed OU to ChOklahoma! Give it up, Stoops cant win the Big Game and for proof just look at the Stoops' ChOklahoma bowl record for the past 5 years. So in the future when voters consider ChOklahoma for the big game maybe they should consider the past!!!!!!!!! May be Bob Stoops should start with a less bowl game, so he can grow into the big bowl games.
