Story from a rather odd Sabres blog that's worth a read.

Meanwhile, Ovechkin needs 10 goals and 27 assists to reach 200 for his career in each category. Ovechkin has 363 career points in 283 regular-season games.
Remarkably, despite missing 2 games, it's not out of the question that Ovechkin could reach 500 shots on goal this season. He has 240 through his 38 games played. If he keeps that pace, he'd be at 480 for 76 games, leaving just 20 needed in the last four games.
500 shots is ... ridiculous.

This is Alex Ovechkin. I'm glad that this story made it to at least this site. Total and complete class act! No Bean bag punching and whining like Cindy! To me there is no question of who is the best player on and off the ice. He scores tons of goals, plays his heart out every second he's on the ice, always is in the top 5 in hits in the league! (Please try and find another all-star point or goal scorer that does that!) and on top of it all he's one of the nicest easy-going guys in any sport. 5 years down the road after a few Stanley Cups in DC there will be no question of who's the best player of this generation.
