This just in...Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff investigating the BCS for potential violations of the Sherman Antitrust Act.

"If there's an artificial situation and a monopoly, where its anti-competitive effects are stronger than its pro-competitive effects, then you've got a problem there."

"BCS schools get more money by the millions, more attention, better stadiums and better recruits. Investigators will look at BCS rules, statistics and, of course, follow the money. Shurtleff hopes the right pressure will lead to a better system without legal action. He says, "Bottom line: Is there a system in place that is monopolistic and fundamentally unfair?"

Ah yes... the end ofthe season lawsuit/investigation by the other 5 just before the meetings...

I do think there is a needed change - how about this?
The majors championship series.

1. Expanding to 6 BCS games
2. Each of the major 6 sends their conference champ and their next highest ranked
3. The 2 highest ranked play each other in the majors title game
4. The independants and the other 5 conferences can do whatever they want

Jocularity aside, just for the record...
Most of the revenue of the major programs comes from their alumni - take away the bowl revenu and the difference is still drastic.

The majors don't owe it to the other 5 to develop their booster support.
