Now I don't like those half-assed sleeper picks.

1.  Richard Stanzi, Iowa

Stanzi has all the physical tools of a heisman winner, if he played anywhere but Iowa he'd be getting all kinds of publicity.  Stanzi has great pocket presence, he can stand in their against any pass rushes and deliver strikes downfield.  His arm is great, he can definitely sling it around.  His accuracy is good, it improved greatly as the season wore.  He's mobile for a guy his size, not amazing but he can avoid a pass rusher every once in a while.

Stanzi had a good year considering it was his first year starting.  He had 14 TD's to 9 INTs in 254 attempts.  This team ran the ball  515 times, Shonn Greene carried the ball 307 times.  With Shonn Greene declaring this system will likely become more pass-centric.  Iowa always has a good line so Stanzi will have good protection.

2. Baron Batch

Red Raider 'backs get a bad rep.  Batch was great this past year, but of course no one noiced.  Batch was splitting time this past year, however next year he should be getting a majority of the carries.  Trust me, his accomplishments will be hard to ignore next year.

Batch has great break away speed mixed with moves on moves, he was a big play threat when ever he touches the ball.  He also has good power, he gets a lot of yards after contact and he is great nar the goal line.

3. Juice Williams

Juice Williams is the Illini offense.  He, like Colt McCoy, lead his team in passing and rushing.  He is just a play maker, he had 27 total touchdowns this past year along with 3892 yards.  I don't expect Juice to receive any cut in oppurtunities to make play, I think they will put the ball in his hands even more.

Juice has improved his passing game last year, and will continue to improve it this upcoming year.

4. Jacquiz Rodgers

Quiz is just an amzing player.  He was the best freshman runningback last year, and the offense will continue to run through him. Rodgers should get even more touhes this upcoming season.

Quiz is deadly quick, he can make anyone look stupid (just ask USC).  He is just a big play waiting to happen.

5. Golden Tate

Some peoplemay see his as a bit of a stretch, and then some.  Remmember this is Heisman sleepers, and Tate is the only big play threat on a big play offense (at least they try to be).

Tate is one of the best deep threats in he NCAA, and he has a QB who can get the ball deep.  Tate also has a coach who can draw up plays to get his play maker(s).  Tate is great after the catch as well, so don't expect him to just run deep every play.

Nice blog. I thought Juice had a chance this year after the Mizzou game where he had 452 yards, but his level of play fell off a little bit.

Batch is a monster. He is explosive enough to take it to the house from anywhere, but he will also lower his shoulder and bring the boom on any linebackers.

I've got another potential Heisman sleeper for you - Christian Ponder. This really is not a homer pick. Ponder can run more than well enough to keep defenses honest, he can make all of the throws with good accuracy, and he does not rattle easily. Our offense finally started to heat up a little this year. Next year, our entire offensive line is back as are nearly every one of our playmakers on offense. If Ponder continues to improve this off-season, he may make some noise in the race for the Heisman next season.

Not a bad list. Stanzi was great against SC in there bowl game. McCoy and Tebow(if he returns) will be the two favorites.

nice to see juice williams get some love.He will have a bounty of weapons to choose from, so if he plays the way he is capable of he will have the stats to at least recieve consideration.I only wish he would play like he did in 2007 and not try to immulate donovan mcnabb.I believe he was better in 2007.

Good list....love Golden Tate. If Claussen can develop some consistency and they get a running game going, Tate could have a HUGE year.

I love Golden Tate, but the only big play threat? Michael Floyd anyone?

They view Golden Tate as a bigger play threat then Floyd, Floyd dosent have the speed, but has better hands and route running skills, and if its a jump ball its his.
