Lately there has been a lot of talk about Stephon Marbury joining the Celtics.  Kevin Garnett as well as Ray Allen have publicly stated that they would welcome Marbury but isn't obvious that he is not a good fit for multiple reasons.

First the Celtics have Rajon Rondo who is a bright young talent that is maturing into one of the best point guards in the league.  Last year the Celtics brought in a Veteran to help and teach Rondo, Cassell helped school Rondo into a Championship winning caliber point guard. Also Starbury couldn't get more than fifteen minutes a game with the Celtics, there rotation is set.  Marbury isn't a Quick fix for the problem in Boston, rest is.  The Celtics are tired just like most championship teams that play well into the summer.  It's also obvious that the Celtics have good Chemistry everyone knows their role and as much as I think Marbury has matured in his career I think he is still too vocal to wear Celtic Green but he is not too vocal for the purple and gold in LA!

Marbury wants to go some where he is needed and in LA he is needed.  By Adding Marbury to the Lakers line up not only do you add someone with a chip on his shoulder but you add someone that would love the pageantry that is Lakers basketball.  Phil Jackson would be able to be even more creative with who he puts on the floor.  Marbury would be a Combo guard that would allow Kobe the freedom to move more as well as  put the best line up on the court maybe in the league with Fisher, Marbury, Bryant, Odom and Gasol.  There would not be any team in the league that could to take their eyes of any one of  those guys.

Stephon Marbury would bring an intangible to the Lakers that Rodman brought to the bulls just minus the rebounding and wedding dresses.  He would be the other Superstar that the media could focus on and write absurd stories about his whereabouts in the posh LA, Celebritiville.

I know that this conversation is a little early because he hasn't been released and it's not his fault because everyone knew he wasn't going to play again for the Knicks.  The way this situation was handle was just another black eye for a team that is praying for and counting the days until free agency in 2010 when the Lebron sweepstakes will began.

Only time will tell how the cards will fall into place but for the fan of "The Soap Opera league" called the NBA lets hope that Marbury gives the Lakers a thought because you would have to agree Phil, Kobe and Stephon would be worth watching.

It could actually work but it's not going to. Phil Jackson can obviously handle his personality but Kobe is probably going to shun this move.

If Steph wants L.A. he better go holla at the Clippers. They don't need him either but they might actually be willing to bring him into the fold.

I disagree. It sounds like a bad idea. I think that Fisher, Bryant, Odom, Gasol, and Bynum sound like a better line up then the aforementioned Fisher, Bryant, Odom, Marbury, and Gasol. What intangible would Marbury bring to the Lakers? If not rebounding then what? He has never given any indication in his entire career that he's a team player. If anything aside from Minnesota every team has gotten better after he left.

From where I am standing the Lakers do not need to do anything drastic to their team chemistry. Bynum still looks rusty, but we just need to be patient with him. I wouldn't mind seeing the Lakers go for a Brad Miller type player ( I doubt the Queens would ever want to help the Lakers become even more serious contenders). Someone that doesn't need the ball a whole lot, can play tough defense, and lay people out if they mess with Kobe or Gasol (remember pretty Rick?). An enforcer on the Lakers would make them unstoppable.

look what ever works, but im gonna have to disagee for the simple fact is that we already Kobe and i dont think he's gonna appreciate someone like a marbury coming in and demanding the ball. this team is built on sharing but Kobe takes the shots he wants or is offered to him and stephon ( even thogh i always liked his game) would disrupt this program he should go to phoenix or denver they need something to get them over the homp. I think we need another big guy or small forward so can go small and fast and then switch back to big and strong without taking Kobe out the fray. than you for listening.

hey look this thing with starbury is a joke first off he's a good player and deserves respect but he has to settle down if he wants to be apart of this franchise for the fact that this is KOBEs team and thats that. i wouldnt mind so much if he came but will he be able to play without the ball in his hands 24/7 becase that wont happen. and can he excell in the triangle offense? we will see if it happens but i dont think i will. we need more size in order to battle in thre middle and help Gasol on defense thats my opinion and thanks for listening.

I totally agree; if only we could re-create Kurt Rambis

kobe wants win, taken shots is not what he is thinking about. He could have took all the shots he wanted against Boston,it didnt work, they came up shot. With step they cant gang up on Kobe. Only bring him in with a good understanding, whos team it is. Plus if they meet Lebron they need another scorer, because Kobe gonna be on Lebron he gonna be wore out. I say do it!!!
