This is a two part blog about what I think are the two biggest stories in sports.

#1: Knowshon Moreno and Matthew Stafford have declared for the NFL Draft: Kind of surprised that both decided to leave. I don't know why, but I felt like Moreno would stay and try to win the Heisman next year. I was pretty sure Stafford was gone as soon as I saw a couple of weeks ago that he was projected as the #1 pick (he has since been replaced by Sam Bradford). I just looked at the projected Draft order, and I had a great discovery: It's possible that Stafford and Moreno could be playing together again. If Stafford goes #1 overall to the Lions, Detroit can draft Moreno with the #20 pick they got from the Cowboys. Detroit needs all the help they can get, so a QB and a RB shouldn't cause a lot of controversy. Am I bitter about them leaving? No, unlike a lot of Georgia fans I know. I wish they would have stayed, but I know the Bulldogs will be good next year with whoever is in the backfield and whoever is taking the snaps. I project that Stafford will go either to St. Louis (Bulger is seeming to lose believers) or Kansas City, and I say that Moreno will go higher than expected (maybe Washington to be the future replacement for Clinton Portis, or maybe Buffalo... Don't really know why the Bills, I just have a feeling). So Good Luck Matt and Knowshon, make all us Georgia fans proud.

#2: Jeff Jagodzinski fired as Boston College head coach following his interview with the Jets: I don't understand this move at all. This guy wins the ACC Atlantic division two years in a row, has a 20-8 record as head coach (tied for the most wins in two years for any B.C. coach), talks to an NFL team about their head coaching position, and is fired. From what I've heard, he's NOT EVEN GETTING THE JOB! I don't really understand why he would follow through with the interview after his job was threatened. I only see it as "Oh yeah, well guess what? You're Not the Boss Of ME! (anymore...)." I've also heard that maybe Jagodzinski, who was an NFL assistant for 11 years, figured out that he's not cut out for college and did this as an act of suicide as head coach, doing something he knew would get him out of coaching the Eagles but would still give him his $$$. I've heard he's possibly going to Seattle to be the Seahawks offensive coordinator, and I see it as a good fit. As for the Eagles... My five candidates for that job would be

Bud Foster, Virginia Tech DC - Clemson talked to Foster about becoming the Tigers head man, but talks died down. I think Foster is an assistant that will soon be a head coach, it's just up to him. Staying in the ACC could be a plus, but he'll be moving a bit north. And picture the 2009 ACC Championship: VT vs BC for the third year in a row, but this time it's mentor vs student. Hard to imagine a guy like Bud Foster being called a "student".

    Turner Gill, Buffalo HC -
Gill would be a good hire for Boston College. He's already in Buffalo, so he'd be staying north. He is responsible for the turn around of the Bulls, and I think he's proven himself to be able to lead a bigger school. The only issue is Gill just signed an extension to stay in Buffalo. He may say no, but I think it would be crazy to not at least contact him about the position.

Frank Spaziani, BC DC and current interim HC - Hate to say this, Eagles' fans, but this is bad timing to start looking for a new head coach. It might not be a bad idea to just promote someone within the organization, and Spaziani seems to be a good fit. The AD wants someone who is committed to staying in Chestnut Hill, and Spaziani has proven he's capable to do so (He's been with Boston College for 10 years). This would be a "Don't Rock the Boat" move, as he would probably keep Coach Jag's staff and minimize the number of recruits who back out. Had this job been open a month ago, I don't believe that Spaziani would have been considered one of the top candidates for this job. But with all the big name coaches already in place, Spaziani could be one of their last options.

Steve Logan, Boston College OC - Same thing with Logan as with Spaziani. The only thing that I think Logan has on Spaziani is that Logan has been a head coach before (East Carolina, where he was HC from 1992-2002). Logan wouldn't be a horrible hire, but I doubt it would be a celebrated one around BC's campus.

Darkhorse Pick: Tommy Bowden, former Clemson HC -
I still feel like Bowden will be a head coach somewhere next year, and this could possibly be it. He'll be staying in the ACC, but, like Bud Foster, would be moving up north a little bit. He can still coach, but someone just needs to give him a chance. Boston College could be that team.
