These guys are crazy! They have the worst job in sports - OK, in reality it's the 2nd worst job. The worst job would be the NFL team plumbers who need to fix the toilets continally being blocked by 350 pound offensive linemen, but anyways.
Firstly, they get underpaid relative to all other positions.
Secondly, they have the shortest careers due to injuries and wear and tear on their bodies.
Thirdly, they endure incredible punichment as battering rams trying to get past the D-line, which has men big enough to crush you, then having to contend with linebackers like Ray Lewis and Urlacher trying to smash them, then if they make it through to the secondary, you have the even more athletic safeties trying to knock the spaghetti out of them to make the highlights on Sportscenter.
You can keep that.

I think you're forgetting the Fullbacks. It's their job to take on Lewis and Urlacher Head to head with both coimng full speed. And then when one of those linebacker or safties blitz that's his job to pick that up too. The defense is coming all out so all he can do is plant himself and wait for impact.

Fair point, but fullbacks are quite often as big as llinebackers, and guys like Bettis and Alstot used to run right over them.
Fullbacks tend to get less carries, and have longer careers with less injuries. Some of these RBs are 5' 9" and wiegh under 200 pounds. Fullbacks can be in the 260 pound range.
