Well, it's my first blog of 09.  And there's something that I want to talk about.  That's the Dallas Cowboys, Pacman Jones disaster.  It appears the Dallas Cowboys organization is fine with taking in players who have had trouble in the past.  But then these guys get into trouble and suddenly the Cowboys get rid of them.

I of course am talking about Pacman Jones.  The Cowboys knew exactly what they were getting when they signed him.  How could they not?  The Cowboys knew Jones was a guy who basically needs a babysitter.  The Cowboys let Pacman Jones go after reports came out about another alleged Pacman, stip club endeavor..strangely enough it almost ended badly..I know..crazy.  Once the Cowboys learned about this they released Jones...to save face.

I saw just now that Pacman hopes to get another shot with some other team.  Really? You think some team is going to be dumb enough to give you another shot?  Please, you messed up with Jerry Jones..a guy who does stuff like this purposely just to get publicity. Not even Al Davis would sign you now.  Pacman, you're done in the NFL now...you've managed to prove that you're not mature enough to handle being in the NFL..and you never will.

All you have to do, Pacman, is not get in trouble.  You can't just not get in trouble..you've proven that.  Not getting into trouble is pretty easy to do.  I've been alive for 20 years...it's been pretty easy for me to not get into trouble.

This is true, when a sports organization is going to give you millions of dollars to play a game you would think you could keep your head out of the water, but no, i don't completely disagree with Jones' decision to bring Pacman in only in part because such risks could pay dividends but the Cowboys sure do take such risks often. Its different than say Terrell Owens because TO is a proven play maker even if he is a menace he can put his money where his mouth is. At the seasons beginning I was hoping for the Pacman saga to turn into a feel good story, I think a lot of the drama that unfolded mid-season was more of ESPN playing the role of people magazine as they tend to do and creating headlines for themselves. My big question is that if the NFL knew of this incident why did the Cowboys not, or everybody for that matter, was this another headline grabber for the mothership ESPN?

That's a great question. I don't know if the NFL would purposely keep something like that away from the Cowboys just for the sake of ratings. It's a huge industry, I'm not sure if ratings are an issue for the NFL.
