The Eagles are in no way taking baby steps as they continue to move through the NFC toward the Super Bowl they are taking "giant" leaps for mankind; and as fate would have it, the football gods are aligning the stars for Philly as the Birds realize their destiny.  This is only proven by Carolina's loss to Arizona, a team which, all of a sudden, broadcasters are afraid of.  Regardless of the opponent however, the Philadelphia Eagles are now following the cosmic path once tread by their baseball brethren.  Is it guaranteed?  No, nothing short of death and taxes is, but if one is to believe, once must acknowledge that what has occurred over the past few weeks is as unlikely as the Arizona Cardinals reaching the NFC Championship game.

No one has ever said that finding your destiny is easy.  Like everything else in life, there are going to be bumps and bruises, ebbs and flows.  It is how you react to those down times that create character and strength.  I am the first to admit, that I am a bit ashamed of myself, just a tad.  I did have this team out and left for dead, calling for Coach Andy's head.  But somehow, someway, they got into the playoffs.  On Sunday against the New York Giants, Coach used his running backs a bit more, even yesterday, running the ball 23 times when there was no run game to be had.  Plus I might add, he used a QB sneak when he needed to use a QB sneak.  It was a well played game and kudos should be given to all those who deserve them.  There was a safety, and I thought it would hurt them in the end, but they persevered.

Who knows how the game would have actually have turned out had it not be for the defense.  Brian Dawkins and the rest of the crew held Brandon Jacobs under 100 yards and kept the Giants out of the end zone.  The effort that they have put in the past month and a half has been near herculean.  Since their embarrassing defeat to the Ravens on November 23rd, the defense hasn't given up more than 20 points to any opponent and only 20 points once (to the Cardinals in a blowout) moving themselves to the 3rd best defense in the league by the end of the season, behind Baltimore and Pittsburgh no less.

There is no reason to think that this type of play won't continue against Arizona either, despite Larry Fitzgerald and the re-emergence of Edge.  But that's why the games are played.

I feel that the championship game is the Eagles' for the taking.  They need to avoid all the relevant clichés and do what they have done the past several weeks, in order to move on for the opportunity to complete their destiny, and the timing couldn't be better.  With Donovan McNabb's future with the team in the balance and the career of Brian Dawkins reaching twilight, now is the time to complete the journey began back in 1999.  It would provide the type of elation and satisfaction that fans need in order to justify their existence in the world of professional sports.

Let me pre-empt this by saying congrats. Your team earned it, my team did not.

That said, without seeing the numbers I do not believe McNabb was very impressive and the Giants D kept Westbrook under 50 yards total. The Eagles were not overly impressive against the Vikings either. I expect them to beat AZ, but look for the AFC team to win the SB.

This was the Giants game to win or lose. Our D played to win, but our Offense, well, the word pathetic comes to mind. Eli, the WRs, the kicker and especially the play calling. It is now confirmed that Plax is missed. Why we did not use Jacobs over and over and over is beyond me.

If I had to point the finger of blame, it would be at Eli, Coughlin and Carney, in that order. Hats off to our D, you guys played with heart and I feel for you.

I will grant you that the Eagles offense was subpar on Sunday. If it was not for the defense the results may have been different. It is difficult to blame Eli, the coach, or the kicker for the failure to make it on fourth down. That is either a total system error or a brick wall being put up by the Birds.

The Eagles offense may of been subpar but you can't lie that McNabb made some incredible throws. When the game was still close that 3rd and 20 was huge.

It was big, not as big as 4th and 26, but big all the same.

Seems SUCH a shame Arizona derails this...but derail it they shall.

Not blaming them for the fourth-and-short plays. But far too much passing in a windy stadium, especially when you have a rested Brandon Jacobs and especially when it was apparent very early on that Eli was not going to be on his game. I reserve the right for blaiming Eli for the poorly thrown passes and the costly INT. I reserve the right to blame Gilbride for the incredibly lousy play calling (i.e., far too many passes).
