One Flew Over...

It occurred to me recently that something was very awry in the NFL postseason. When a team with a great record (the Patriots) has to sit at home while other teams (Cardinals, Eagles and Chargers) with less than stellar records play on something definitely has to change.

This year the New England Patriots are the NFL's only team with a .600 winning percentage not in the playoffs. How did this happen? Well the only rational explanation is that the Chargers are a better team God's favored a different team.

The Chargers play in one of the weekest divisions in the NFL and somehow managed to squeak in after being dead in the water four weeks prior. Even Bretty and the Jets finished with the a better record than the sparkless Chargers.

The Arizona Cardinals were an outstanding 6-0 in their division (coincidently the worst division in the NFL) yet managed only one more in 12 conference games finishing an average 7-5 and 9-7 overall.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers finished with the same overall record but were one game better in the conference going 8-4. Sound fair to you?

I won't even begin to talk about the Eagles... The Only reason they made the playoffs at all is because they have a QB who doesn't know the rules of the game. If it weren't for the TIE Donovan and the gang would be eating popcorn with TO and the rest of the drama sqaud in Dallas.

Here's my proposition to the problem:

The six best teams from each conference make the playoffs. Keep the division and conference play the same but when it comes time to decide the teams for the playoffs the six best teams are in. The two best teams from each conference receive bye weeks during the Wild Card Round.

GOT A BETTER IDEA? LETS HEAR IT!!!!!
