I'm observing a brief moment of silence this morning.   I'm a lifelong, long-suffering Arizona Cardinal fan.  21 years ago today, the fat SOB Bill Bidwill packed up his team and moved them out of St. Louis.

I try to be a forgiving person, but I doubt I'll ever forgive him for this.   I know there are Arizonians who are thrillled he moved them there (okay, mostly I'm talking about Eyeshield), but it still represents the most heart-breaking moment of my sports-fan life.    The Cards will always be part St. Louis to me.

Anyway.  In honor of the occasion, I think the team should go beat the bejeezus out of the Eagles on Sunday.     GO CARDS!!!!!!!

I imagine Baltimore Colts fans, Houston Oilers fans, Cleveland Browns fans and even "your" LA Rams fans share your pain. I can't even imagine how I would feel if the Giants moved away from New York / New Jersey, but it almost happened to my hockey team once (NJ Devils) and that was scary.

I too still think of the Cardinals as St. Louis and even still think of them as an NFC East divisional rival! OJ Anderson quickly comes to mind, a guy that played for both of our teams.

Philly beat us this past week and they deserved the victory. I know this is for loyal Cardinals fans only, but as a life-long Eagles-hater my support is with you guys this week. Big-time.

Kurt Warner, another guy that played for both of our teams (and a St. Louis team!) is an absolute class act and I'd like nothing more than to see him back in the Bowl. Good luck.

I get the chills when you mention the old NFC East and OJ Anderson even though we stunk I never missed a Cards game that was Televised (not many) but living in NE the Giants were on every sunday so when Cards played Gmen I got to watch the game. Remember back the the Pats were a joke, and there are a lot of Giants fans here in NE. any way what i was saying is I got the chills when you mentioned OJ and NFC East. Jim Hart, Mel Gray, Terry Metcalf, Jim Ottis,Dierdorf, Dobler, Banks, Bob Young, Roger Wherli (my favorite football player of all time). that was the mid 70s then the 80,s Lomax, OJ, EJ Junior,( Remember him Rings)JT Smith, Pat Tilley, Roy Green (I went to game against Pats Green played both ways and had a int and an offensive TD, Curtis Greer defensive lineman, then 90s Jake, the top 5 picks at running back Hearst & Jones both went elseware and flourished, and the most underated cornerback in NFL HISTORY Aneas Williams. Rings name some more. this win is for all those guys.

Thanks for the support, G-men. I hope you never have to deal with your teams leaving......it sucks.

I loved EJ Junior......though I can't think of him without thinking of the BS roughing call on him against Theismann that cost us the Playoffs in 84

AZ - those are a lot of great names.....I'd add Ike Harris Wayne Morris, Theotis Brown, Stump Mitchell, Willard Harrall, Bubba Baker, the late JV Cain, Luis Sharpe....then Eric Swann in the '90s...Ricky Proehl I loved and Buddy Ryan ran him out of town. Didn't they call Curtis Greer "Captain Crunch".....or am I thinking of someone else? Larry Centers was awesome.......Tootie Robbins.

Totally agree about Aeneas. One of the biggest disappointments for me when the Rams lost to NE in the Super Bowl was that Williams didn't get a Ring.

Great memories, even if they didn't come with a lot of wins.

How could I forget Swann he played out here in Lynn, Mass. see though he is another example that this franchise is or was cursed Swann would have been a H.O.Famer if he didn't have knee problems,(I think it was his knee) Luis Sharpe great one USC, I don't remember Willard Harrell. didn't there used to be a radio show in Stlouis called the Ottis & Theotis show. Remember when Larry Centers hurdled over that guy against Dallas. By the way get used to seeing OUR Cards on Monday night ans Sunday night alot next year. wow finally we arrived and we deserve it. Every time I would tell people I am a Cardinal fan they look at me like I have 6 heads. I guess there aren't many Cards fans in Mass.

January 15, 2009  03:59 PM ET

**** I wrote a ten minute reply It didn't show up what happened, I couldn't do it again because it was from the heart, anyway I know I wrote about Eric Swann because he played pro ball out here in Lynn, Mass. what a shame about him if he never got hurt he was awesome.

January 15, 2009  04:00 PM ET

OH dam it there it is sorry.

January 15, 2009  04:36 PM ET

Yeah. FN has a glitch in the comments. And yeah, it was Swann's knee that he injured......same deal with Wadsworth.

Remember when they had Wadsworth, Mark Smith, Simeon and Swann on the DLine? Everyone thought it would be one of the best ever.

January 15, 2009  04:42 PM ET

Thats right Wadsworth out of FSU, Smith was good to he didn't have all the fanfare coming in but he was good. see thats why we are jinxed every time we get good something bad happens, lets hope we are not 1 season and done.

It did it again

January 19, 2009  03:30 PM ET

hahaha Bidwill coming to AZ was the most awesome thing in the history of awesome! j/k. thats just how the breaks went. They ended up coming here. I can feel your pain. If the Cards were to one day leave AZ, I think I would die. I cant love any other team than the Cardinals. But at least they are still a part of you Rings. I wont talk badly about Bidwill but you have your view and I can respect it. But this super bowl trip is just as much yours and azcardsfan as it is mine. I may only be 24 and not have followed the team as long as you guys have because of my age, but I know all of us bleed Cardinal Red! This is for all of us!

January 19, 2009  05:55 PM ET

You deserve to be without a team. If you were a better fan, they would have stayed in St. Louis.

January 19, 2009  06:02 PM ET

That's weird, I know I posted a comment here . Apparently the king of commentary cannot allow others to do the same? interesting.
If you were a better fan, the Cardinals would not have left.

January 19, 2009  06:08 PM ET

Hey Shield.....I know how you feel, and I wouldn't expect you to feel the same way about Bidwill........and I'm glad you don't.

You're right, it is for all of us......and you are a true Card fan........so congrats. This is awesome.

January 19, 2009  06:08 PM ET

Yeah, BigLar......it's my fault the Cards left St. Louis......

January 19, 2009  06:19 PM ET

Hey you idiot get off this site if you have nothing good to say or I will come to Your stupid Loser city and kick your arse. thats for you LittleLar.

January 19, 2009  06:23 PM ET

There is a glitch now my post will show.

January 19, 2009  07:11 PM ET

Rings you must be some hell of a fan if you had that sort of leverage to move a team, lol.

January 20, 2009  09:27 AM ET

I know, Shield! I didn't realize the power I have.......
