The following may offend a few of you in that great Philly area, perhaps a lot more than a few; but I just have to ask. Why in the world did you finnicky, unappreciative fans have to boo Mr. McNabb a few years back when he was your draft pick many years back? You wanted pothead Ricky Williams instead? Wow, did you ever dodge one. Don't you agree. Mr. McNabb definitely deserves kudos for just having to put up with all the flak you have laid upon him year after year. Extraordinary, I would have to say. The dude just don't get paid enough for all that has been put upon him.

Now look where he has you once again. On the cusp of another Super Bowl. Now let's not get too proud, though, all of you there in Philly. Remember, it took a West Coast guy, Dick Vermeil, to come over there to whip you into shape. To lift you out of the gutter when the Boys were walking all over you back then. It had to be continued with the craggy Buddy Ryan from the Baars. Now, you have a West Coast offense descendant, Andy Reid, running the show. Yes, you have a fine city; but your athletic acumen hadn't been all that great.

By the way, a local sports writer here in this great city of San Antonio, Tx. wrote a column about Vince Young of the Titans, basically commenting, in effect, that he still had much growing up to do and needed to be more of a team player. Well, I'll continue later. Keep your chin up.

I entirely agree with your assessment of those "classy" Philadelphia sports fans.

They famously harrassed arguably one of the greatest third-baseman in the history of baseball (Phillies great Mike Schmidt in the 1970-80s) as if he was a nobody.

They harrassed McNabb. They harrassed Eric Lindros. They harrassed Greg Luzinski, Bobby Clarke, Randall Cunningham, Ron Jaworski.

And we all know they harrassed Santa Claus.

It is a wonder how ANY athlete would ever want to play in that unappreciative, unworthy, town. I'm not a huge McNabb fan (a bit inconsistent if you ask me) but he has gotten them to how many NFC Championship games now??? You need show him some respect him on that fact alone!

After the Eagles lose in this year's Super Bowl, watch the whining start all over again. So, so predictable ... and pathetic.

First of all, here's a history lesson on the Booing of Donovan McNabb. The city did want Rickey Williams in general. Then mayor and now Governor Ed Rendell was even lobbying for the Texas running back. So a radio show host from the sports talk radio station in Philly decided to get a bunch of guys together (called the dirty thirty), go up to the draft and call for the selection of Williams. When he wasn't picked, these thirty guys decided to boo, not the picking of McNabb because the would have booed anyone who wasn't named Rickey Williams. That same radio show host now regrets what happened but has never been able to live it down. That being said, Philadelphia fans boo when a team or player is not playing at the level in which they are capable. That's that. If you look like you're doggin' it, you're gonna get booed. We, as Philly fans, want a player or team to work as hard as we do in order to succeed and sometimes that takes more than talent. It takes character. McNabb has obviously been stigmatized from draft day because he's been playing the victim since. If he's using that as motivation, great! But if he thinks he's not appreciated, he should go talk to Randall Cunningham, who once received a can of Alpo at his locker. So when you talk about all you there in Philly, you better know your stuff, 'cause if your stuff stinks, you're gonna get booed.

Philly fans...Eagles in particular are way too critical and unappreciative of McNabb. 5 NFC championships...a Super Bowl appearance. ..This with never having a respectable running game and no big time receiver. When you finally got him a T.O ya went to the SB! As far as QBs go...yeah he has accuracy and consistency issues at times ...but please...he's probably done more with less than any other QB in the league! Philly was ready to run him outta town with the benching and slow start. He deserves better ....he should be respected...if he gets to the SB and wins...he may be HOF. Eagles will rue the day they get rid of McNabb....Kevin Kolb is not the answer!
