Well there are a few subjects that I'd like to touch on, so if you don't like what I have to say, then don't read it.

The Final AP poll was released a few weeks ago, I'm sorry to my mostly imaginary loyal readers that it took me so long to get around to this.

How did Georiga Tech still manage to finish in front of LSU? LSU absoloutly owned Georiga Tech in the best manner that can possibly be imagined. The fact that the AP can still manage to have LSU unranked and not even bump out Georiga Tech showcases the coruption of the system currently in place.  How can someone see one team just dominate another team like that and sit there and call it a fluke? Well that's all that I'm really mad about, so I'm gonna start getting into some other stuff that is more in national news.

Earlier this week Mark Sanchez announced that he is going pro. I've heard a variety of mixed opinions about this, but none spoke louder than Pete Carrol who absoloutly threw his former star QB under the bus for leaving early. I have some major issues with this, as mush as I hated Pete Carrol before, I never could find a instance of him not showing class, but in the last few days Pete has made a complete jerk out of himself. How could you throw this kid under the bus? This is a kid who came to USC knowing that he could come in and start most anywhere in the country by his sophmore year, but still decdied to go to USC where he'd have to fight to be seeing the field his senior year. Even though he knew this he waited paciently in the wings until his time finally came and then he catches a break when all of the top NFL QB prospects such as Sam Bradford and Colt Mccoy decide to stay in college and he is staring about 32 million dollars guarenteed in the face and you want him to stay his senior year, enter next years draft which will be loaded with talent at QB, and risk getting hurt? Pete Carrol, get over yourself! This was a smart descision by a smart kid, get over it! You'll reload yet again.

Next I would like to get into my top 5 for next season....

1. Florida

For me and others this seems to be a no brainer, Florida is returning 19 starters from a team that absoloutly dominated what has to be the best confrence in college football. Just go ahead and give up everybody else. Unless Florida is killed by injuries, we're gonna see Florida repeat as national champions.

Schedule

  • Charleston Southern
    Troy
    Tennessee
    at Kentucky
    at LSU
    Arkansas
  • at Mississippi State
    Georgia
    Vanderbilt
    at South Carolina
    Florida International
    Florida State

2. Oklahoma

Oklahoma despite lossing to Florida, in my mind is still a really good football team. Stoops job is safe, and the Big 12 will be a little weaker than in past years, so I think that will play in Oklahoma's favor once we get get in the late part of the season and everyone else is beaten up. I expect the running game to be even better this year, Chris Brown really showed me alot in the national championship game, I expect him to play a big role in yet another title game run.

Schedule

This is just what I heard, but I'm not positive about it...

  • at Miami
  • BYU (In Arligton)
  • Tulsa
  • Baylor
  • Texas
  • at Kansas
  • Kansas State
  • at Nebraska
  • at Texas A&M
  • Texas Tech
  • Oklahoma State

I couldn't find a 4th non-conference game sorry.

3. Texas

One thing showed from Texas in the Fiesta Bowl against Ohio State. Texas will never be able to win a national championship until they can muster some form of a running game. Texas shouldof been able to put teams like Texas Tech and Ohio State away for easy win but they could not manage the clock well because they didn't have a pounder who could take control of the running game, and unless they are bringing in some unbeleivable stud RB in this recruiting class who is flying under the radar, I see no way that they can knock off Florida.

Schedule

  • Louisiana Monroe
    at Wyoming
    Central Florida
    UTEP
  • Colorado
    Oklahoma
    at Missouri
    at Oklahoma State
    Texas Tech
    at Baylor
    Kansas
    at Texas A&M

4. LSU

I know tat I'm gonna get called a homer and get ripped for putting LSU this high, but I honestly think that we can compete with anybody in the nation except maybe Florida. People failed to realize how young we were this season, especially on defense. On defense alone we started 6 players that were either sophmores or freshmen. I expect the secondary to be much better after having a year to grow up, this is a big deal considering that our secondary consisted of a rotation of a freshmen, 3 sophmores, a Junior, and only 1 senior last season. Jordan Jefferson looks to be the guy for us as far as QB's are concerned. LSU is also bringing in the top QB in the nation along with the top recruiting class in the nation, so expect LSU to be right back in the mix.

Schedule

  • at Washington
  • Vanderbilt
  • ULL
  • at Mississippi State
  • at Georiga
  • Florida
  • Auburn
  • Tulane
  • at Alabama
  • LA Tech
  • at Ole Miss
  • Arkansas

5. Alabama

Bama never reall impresed me down the stretch. They seem very beatable, but at the same time Saban has always been the guy who can make those teams win. Bama gets alot of it's hard games at home this year, but at the same time is breaking in a new QB, that recieved very little playing time this season. If there was anything that I learned as an LSU fan this season, it's that it's very hard to win without a QB because it not only hurts the offense but it frustrates the defense, kills the running game, and creates a problem in the offense because of the lack of a true leader. Bama has talent though, and if they can find a young QB who can just be efficent and limit his mistakes, they'll be pretty hard to beat.

Schedule

  • Virginia Tech (Atlanta, Georiga)
  • FIU
  • North Texas
  • Arkansas
  • at Kentucky
  • at Ole Miss
  • South Carolina
  • Tennessee
  • LSU
  • at Mississippi State
  • Tennessee- Chattanooga
  • at Auburn

Heheh, precious Bama?! They were the SEC's #2 team. If anything, Florida is the precious b/c they won the NC. Bama didn't have 2 of their top OL for the Sugar Bowl too, so Bama's offensive line was much better all season for other SEC teams while the Utes were able to take advantage of a shaky O-line.

First off you live in Utah..do you even know what football is, and secondly Utah beat the second best SEC team that is Alabama. Plus everyone knew alabama wouldnt be all up and excited to play Utah of all teams. To them when they got the news to play Utah they got kicked in the stomach and couldnt care less because Utah is a team that didnt play anybody. Sorry you are a Utah fan its problay hard up there.

First off, I forgot about utah, they would of been in my just missed category, but I just must of forgoten about them. Second off, you wonder why SEC fans don't like you. If you would of come up to me and presented a few facts like this I would of been alot more willing to hear your opninion...

"They have __ starters returning from last year and have a very favorable schedule, so I beleive they deserve to be in your top 5"

But it makes it really hard for me to sit here and respect your opinion when first thing you see an opinion you don't agree with you automaticly start personally attacking me.

Get a life...

Well, I can kinda see why LSU isn't in the rankings, they looked real good later on, but they were pretty bad most of the season. GT shouldn't be in the rankings, because they got kicked so bad, I think the AP doesn't want to have 7-6 (8-5? LSU? Can't remember f they were 8-5 or 7-6) in the top 25 let alone the top 5. I have a feeling though, that next year they'll be some teams that didn't do to well this year, that will be very good next year. Two of those teams I think will be FSU and LSU. Of course I say FSU because I'm an FSU fan, but I really think that they may end up in the top 15 maybe even top 10, LSU I think will be either top 10 or top 5 finishing up next season.

January 22, 2009  09:31 AM ET

Just dont talk

January 24, 2009  01:30 PM ET

LSU finished 8-5. Worst year in a while. Most teams would love to go 8-5 with a bowl win but we've been sort of spoiled. We have had 10 wins seasons over the last few years with four straight bowl wins. The Sugar Bowl, The BCS National Championship and 2 Chik-fil-A bowl blowouts over GaTech and Miami where both teams only scored 3 points against us. Now that we had an 8-5 year people say we are down. IF and it's a big if, Ryan Perilloux wouldn't have been banished, the Tigers would have won 10 games this year.

January 31, 2009  12:11 PM ET

LSU was probably not in the last AP poll for two main reasons: Because of the inconsistent year they had; and because the AP writers couldn't stomach having any more SEC teams in the poll. When LSU played Ga Tech, they were as on top of their game as they could have been. A great way to end the season and roll into recruitment. As far as Utah goes, any team that can beat Alabama and get Saban as fired up as I saw him on the sidelines is OK in my book! I would like to personally thank Utah for making my bowl season complete. That was a fun game to watch.

February 3, 2009  12:57 PM ET

I had no problem with this blog until you left USC out of the top 5, and putting Bama and LSU above them, I had no problem even with your Pete Carrol remarks becuase I was even dissapointed with the way he handled himself publicly. But to leave USC out of the top 5 is a travishamockery.

February 4, 2009  08:40 AM ET

USC is just Utah in a BCS conference. Half the Pac10 didn't even post winning records, and half the SEC could have beaten Penn State the way USC did. USC and Utah are both better-than-average teams playing in weak conferences. I think it's possible Utah could have won a national championship game, but the problem was they hadn't played any games that proved that until they beat Bama. Four of their wins were by 3 points or less, and to teams like 4-8 New Mexico and 3-9 Michigan. That's not convincing enough to put in a National Championship game. But I think Utah could have beat USC any day.
