| 02:27 PM ET  01.22 | About 13 years ago, I was eating in a restaurant in Presidio, Texas and about this time Nolan Ryan was working as a consultant with State Parks of Texas. Needless to say that there are 2 state parks outside of Presidio. We were eating when Nolan Ryan walked in with the local head park ranger and talk about being star struck. I mean, I was stuttering when I was trying to pronounce his name. Nobody else saw him and nobody believe me that it was him and they did not want to approach their table. We finished eating and the other coaches went to practice while I went to their table and it was none other than Nolan Ryan. I introduced myself and the park ranger told him about how good at baseball when I was playing little league baseball and all Nolan wanted to hear about was my experiences playing little league baseball. I asked him if he could autograph a couple of napkins and then I asked him if he could autorgraph a couple of cards that I currently have. He said that he would, but I told him that I didn't have them with me since I didn't expect to meet him at the restaurant. Mr. Ryan asked me how long it would take me to get them? I said about 10 minutes because I lived a couple of blocks from the restaurant. And he said for me to go and get them that he would wait for me. I went home got them and and came back to the restaurant and he was still ther waiting for me. Then I started to tell him how followed his career since he was playing for the Astros. I couldn't help but notice how humble he was and is. Mr. Ryan played down when he grabbed Robin Ventura in a headlock and punched him or when he was bleeding from the lip when he was hit by a Bo Jackson line drive. Most of all he still wanted to hear stories about when I played little league and the park ranger continue to egg him on about my playing days. Unfortunately, I couldn't get him to come to practice with me since they were on a tight schedule
