The full text of what you're going to read can be found @ http://go-nasty-nats.mlblogs.com, but for the benefit of those of you who can't get there I'll surmise it here.

The current issue of the Sporting News, in their "I Remember..." section, has a story about Frank Howard (the former LF of the Senators back in the '60s) and how in May of '68 he smacked 10 homers in 20 at-bats over a 6-game span. This piqued my interest, for sentimental reasons.

For the benefit of those of you who've only been on FN the last 4-6 months or so, I need to take a moment and explain something to you. I'm old enough to remember watching (on TV, because of blackout rules in those days) Hondo, as most people referred to Frank. To my generation, in the D.C. area as well as here in the Shenandoah Valley (where I live), he was a god who walked amongst us mortals.

But we were talking about that SN article, weren't we??

Anyway, what caught my eye was a picture of Frank nowadays, with a caption saying he had lost his job as a pro scout and roving instructor with the Yankees. And that's when it dawned on me.

God knows the Nationals ownership has been trying to find a way to generate good will towards the fans. So if Ted Lerner and the ownership of the Nats can read this, I have the perfect solution for you:

Hire Frank Howard...NOW!!!

I don't care what you give him; roving hitting instructor, scout, even a coaching position. It doesn't matter. As long as the baseball world can see #33 in a Washington uniform, nothing else can generate sellout (or near-sellout) crowds @ Nationals Park--or spring training, for that matter.

Seeing as how the Nats have changed the road uniforms to resemble those old Senators jerseys I grew up watching in my youth, this just MIGHT bring about that World Series in D.C. in 2013 I've been talking about on here. But first, we've got to do something about getting some big-name free agents to come to Washington...

And once AGAIN, something important to me (not to mention Nats fans) is IGNORED by all of you.
Laziness, that's what it is...
