I reliezed I haven't written since the beginning of the season and it is far over due. The Steelers have suprised everyone and made it to yet another Superbowl. The fans in this town couldn't be happier.
I was lucky enough to attend the best game I have ever gotten to witness, the AFC championship. One of my least favorite teams, the Baltimore Ravens, fell victim to yet another Steeler bird bashing. Third time is a charm, a charm in the Superbowl ring. I was reading a prior blog I had written during training camp. I was raving about Steeler Limus Sweed. Even after the entire stadium booed him after his disasterous touchdown drop and waste of a timeout, I still see the fire he has yet to unleash. The fans quickly turned around when he hammered cornerback Corey Ivy. He has the potential to go far in the NFL, I hope to see it while we have him.
Kudos to the dynamic defense for an incredible season. It is thanks to them that the Steelers even made it this far. From the middle of the season to the end, the offense struggled to put points on the board. Without the defense's interceptions, forced fumbles and play ending hits we would have never even made the playoffs.
As for Tomlin, a Pittsburgh radio station was asking the question, "Is the reason we are in the Superbowl a result of Tomlin's no-crap coaching, or the fact that he was handed a good team?" In my opinion it is both. There is no doubt in my mind that Tomlin is a good coach... I think last year was the warming up faze for the team and now they are responding well with his style of game. Also, the Steelers have been a force for sometime now. Sure we lost some players since the last Superbowl, but the key players are still wearing black and gold. The combination of the two makes the powerhouse the Steelers are today.
Bottom line.... The Steelers are in the Superbowl, despite predictions, and I couldn't be happier. Who doesn't love a six pack?
