To Begin:  Sincere  condonlences, gratitude and sympathy to the Atkins family, who must be reeling after the tragic death of ex-UF player Avery Atkins.  It should be mandatory for the UF drama club to make a movie about his downfall and show it to every new recruit, regardless of sport.  What a promising life he could have had.

Situation:  Urban Meyer has complained all pre-season about the lack of depth at C, and for good reason:  no one knows who the starters are going to be.  2006 Starter Ryan Smith is NFL bound while his counterpart on the other side, Reggie Lewis graduated.  Thus, the playing field is literally wide open.  As such, Urban Meyer has looked to the offense as former RB Markus Manson moved to CB to help out in the secondary.  He must improve his agility and most certainly will be required to work off some of the 207 pounds he aquired butting heads with linebackers as runningback.  However, he offers senior leadership and a good work ethic to otherwise young and inexperienced CB position.  Wondy Pierre-Louis and Markihe Anderson recieved some playing time last year, mainly on special teams,  Wondy recovering the fumbled punt in the Arkansas endzone during last years SEC title game,  while Anderson had little to no impact.  Both look to gain significant playing time this year.

Whats Been Done:  The most likely contender to see PT on the field as a true freshman is four star standout Joe Haden.  He made headlines in the spring with his ability to catch on to the pace and learn the defense.  At Friendly HS (Not a BS name I promise) in Ft. Washington, Maryland he tied the public career mark with 80 touchdown passes.  Yes thats right quarterback, this kid could help our team out from many places on the field, who knows, maybe Urban has a little 2 play Haden package at QB in the huge playbook.  Watch out for this kid, he has tremendous potential.

The other freshman to see playing time will be Lakeland cornerback Ahmad Black and Lauderdale Lakes native Moses Jenkins.  They may receive significant playing time if Wondy "The Liar" Pierre-Louis , Jacquez Rickerson and Markihe Anderson cant step up to the plate.

Prospects for 2008 include playmakers such as the coveted five star TJ Bryant,  and four stars Charles Whitlock and Brandon Harris.
