It was a Super Bowl that for most of the game was a super bore. The most exciting thing that happened in the first half was James Harrison's 100 yd interception return. Everything else was a dud, with Arizona playing like Arizona has most of their existence. In other words, a team with big talent not utilizing it. Larry Fitzgerald not getting any passes thrown his way until late in the second half.
The Cardinals had composure problems, like multiple personal foul penalties on a single Steelers possession. Luckily, the defense held Pittsburgh to a field goal. And finally, when they got the lead with under 3 minutes to play they threw it away with a really ugly pass defense that allowed Ben Roethlisberger to drive the length of the field with little problem. And of course, after scoring the go ahead TD & with little time on the clock, Kurt Warner decides not to air it out, but rather to throw little dink passes that went no where, & finally fumbled the ball away with a few seconds left.
Now I'm not a Cards fan or a Steelers fan, but clearly one team was well prepared for this game & one wasn't. Hopefully we will never see Arizona in a Super Bowl again. Although as a Niners fan, I will settle for any team not from Dallas. And oh NBC, everytime Keith Olbermann was on did I have to see the Raiders logo behind him?
So this will go down as a bad game with an exciting finish featuring a team that shouldn't have been there, that featured only two really outstanding plays, the Harrison INT & Fitzgerald's TD run. Next year I want more.
