I would like to announce that we have a new Titletown USA and that is Pittsburgh, Pa.!

In my last blog, "Think I May See a  Trend", I mentioned that if the Pittsburgh Steelers win this Super Bowl, that the city of Pittsburgh deserves to be called Titletown USA... wresting that nomer away from Green Bay, though that may invoke their ire.

I know Green Bay has won many NFL championships. Being only 48 years young, I don't know exactly how many they won before the Super Bowls started; but I know they were winning NFL titles in the early days of the league. They should be commended for that, but I am a modern day fan. Didn't start watching football until around '68 or '69, so I can only basically compare the teams and games I've been watching in my former years and up till now. I just believe that the merging of the AFL and NFL have made the Super Bowl the ultimate, the pinnacle of all championships if you will. Again, I may be invoking the ire of you fine Green Bay fans; but I mean no disrespect.

In fact, earlier this morning I was listening to a local (San Antonio) sportscaster who believes that the Steelers are now America's Team. I being a Dallas fan took no offense to that because that is probably true. In my last blog, I mentioned my admiration for the way the Steelers have conducted their business as far as hiring outstanding coaches and the way they have coached these players into playing as a team. As a Dallas fan, I am jealous.

Yes, instead of just signing a bunch of stars and sitting back expecting them to play as a team without direction, the Cowboys should be taking notice of what the Steelers are doing. Get some coaches who are not worried about offending a diva on the team. Someone who will come in and say, "My way or the highway, Jack. Don't want to conform, then don't come back." Alas, however, as long as Mr. Jones is running things in Dallas, probably will not happen.

But I just want to say congrats to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Still, it looked the like the Steel Curtain defense had turned into the Paper Curtain defense the way Larry Fitzgerald blew by Troy Polamalu and the other backs in that 64 yd pass play that put Arizona ahead. Wow, I think some of Mr. Polamalu's hair may have been singed in that play; but what else can you say, the Steelers came back like the great team that they are.

Again, congrats to Pittsburgh; and remember, women weaken legs.

I can only say i can not agree more. The Steelers are not a flashy hire the premium players type of team but what they are is a well organized franchise from the ground up. It starts with the owners to the coaching staff. It is playing in a team system not developing a system around a player and making a team conform to him.

Are you serious? The Penguins haven't won the Cup since when, the early 90's? And the Pirates, well, nuff said

If it was one sport than yes...if not then im sure we can all agree that Bean town has that honor with the Pats and Sox recent success as well as the Cletics late year Championships along with their entire decade of dominace....least we forget the Bruins in the late 60's and early 70's

Yes, I am serious Mr. NYGiantsSBXLIICHAMPS about my claim that Pittsburgh is the new titletown. That claim was in relation to football, particularly the NFL. The NFL!!! Remember, Green Bay only plays football. There are no other major professional sports played there. Yet they hold the nomer of Titletown USA, brotha.
Besides, as long as the NFL season is in session, nothing else matters... not basketball, not hockey, not tiddly winks. In addition, every game in the NFL matters. Every game important. These other sports play way too many games. Who cares. In my view, pro football never ends. There's always something going on. Let's hear it for the NFL!
