Real Madrid C.F. is on a six-game winning streak in La Liga. You'd never know it though if you read either Marca or As. "Inertia" is the world that the former flashed on their website today.
That's just stupid. Soccer is not about blowout scores but because Real Madrid is not putting up Barcelona numbers (Gawd that team is sick) they are suddenly inept, adrift, listless, or even inert. Since the team is struggling under Juande's leadership style, since all offense is placed at the (albeit willing and able) feet of Arjen Robben and since the boatload of new acquisitions has failed to deliver let's just forget it. Matter of fact, just give Barcelona the title now.
The media actually laid into Julien Faubert on his first day. Something tells me that the bar is a little high when a player gets critiqued on his first day. As if that white jersey was cut from Superman's cape or something.
Forget that Juande Ramos has only been on the job for a little over 2 months. Forget that the team's leading scorer is having his knee rebuilt and might not be back in merengue white ever. Oh, and the whole leadership thing, just set that aside too. It doesn't matter all that much anyway that the club has no real President.
Aside from the six-game win streak, Raul just tied DiStefano as the club's all-time leading scorer. Just today, Iker Casillas has tied the legendary Buyo for most appearances as Real's net-minder. Nevermind that Gonzalo Higuain, the kid that no one gives a chance in hell, damned-near broke some poor defender's ankles today on his way to scoring, again.
When people start finding flaws in winning six games in a row it's time to reset our priorities a little bit.

My mistake - as of today the winning streak is seven games in a row. - B
