David Tyree. Not exactly a household name. But against the Patriots in 2008 Super Bowl he etched his name into Super Bowl lore.
Is he a legend???
Absolutely not.
But every team that makes it to the Suoer Bowl has a player like him on the roster.
Role players.
Players that check their ego's in hopes of being a superstar for the greater good of the team.
And he battled his own personal demons to get there and make a difference in one of the biggest upsets in Super Bowl history.
Alcoholism. It is something that ruins lives, marriages, relationships, careers and much more. Tyree stared into the abyss that is alcoholism and decided he didnt want it to define him. He fought the good fight and won.
In my humble opinion he is pro football's version of "Rudy."
Maybe rather than the pretty boys of the NFL maybe just maybe, David Tyree should be a role model of the youth today.
Superstar???
No.
But he is a perfect example for young people today to never quit. And with that hard work and dedication you can overcome the odds and persevere.
