Is there?
We all saw what the Lakers did to the Cavs and Celtics back-to-back on their home courts. They snapped the Celtics 12 game winning streak in the most hostile arena in the league, against their top rivals. Then they went to Cleveland, to a place where the Cavs had gone undefeated to that point, a place where the Cavs trailed just 4 times all season and they dominated the 4th quarter to get the W.
They've done this without Andrew Bynum, with Kobe having the flu, and Luke Walton starting...... Just wait until this team gets close to 100% (maybe getting Bynum back before the play-offs).
They've beaten all their possible rivals.
-Swept the Celtics
-Swept the Cavs
-Beat the Hornets2/3
- beat the Nuggets 2/2
-Beat the spurs 1/2, with the last one they played a beatdown.
The only team they really had a problem with is the Magic, but can they hang with the elite without Jameer Nelson?
What else could a team possibly do to earn the distinction?

They were good but "not as good". Ariza is huge and Bynum is still developing plus Paul is in his first full season. Josh is coming along and Farmer is getting better. Am I kidding?

look what they did to the celtics? they won by 1 point in overtime after KG fouled out. I wouldn't call that a dominant victory. either team could have pulled that out.

the regular season wins are great, but if you can't beat the bigger and better teams in the playoffs then you aren't really "the best". The lakers may sweep the regular season, but their moxie has been tested in the playoffs...The Lakers are good, but not GREAT.

Face it, Kobe will never win a ring with out SHAQ! Chew on that for a minute. Last I saw, no one received rings for regular season wins. Your team is soft and you know it so enjoy it now cause it won't be there at the end of the Finals when someone other then the Lakers is holding up the Larry O'Brien trophy.

Ummm... Confucius? I don't want to be this guy... But I believe that title should read, "ARE there still questions..."
Just sayin'.
Right now, there are no questions in my mind. If Kobe breaks his leg or something, then there will be questions. Not now, though. Not now.

You're title should read "Who is playing the best at this time"; because there is no title in the rafters at the Staples Center for the 2008-2009 season. If they finally do get that title, which I still doubt; they better add glowing flashing lights to it that say "without Shaq!"
LA has been a great team for years and still lose in the playoffs; maybe its a CA thing, since the SJ Sharks have the same problem...

Lakers won vs Celtics and Cavs. but I think lost vs Jazz
So this means Jazz is the best team in NBA
The important thing here is to win championships not regular games

The Jazz isn't the best team in the NBA by a long shot; They've lost as well as won to many different teams, good and bad. Their last loss was from the Warriors.
And as far as I'm concerned, we really wont know who is the best until the best is crowned as such; Where we can say a team has beat another (Magic swept Spurs/Lakers and beat Cavs the only time they've played each other this season), we can say they've been beat by yet a third. (Magic lost the two played this season against the Celts; play again in a few days). Both the Lakers and Celts lost today by teams at the bottom of the playoff picture who're trying to stay alive. One isn't even at .500. Yet we all agree they're good teams.
Can't say the Cavs are the best; they may have the second best record but they've lost to many of the others teams we all place in the upper echelons of the league. Same for the Celtics, the only team at the top who have dominated the Magic this season. They have flip flopped around with all of the others, though. Same with the Lakers, 'cept they lost to the Magic. The Magic have been consistently inconsistent post-Nelson (Maybe we'll come back once Alston is familiar with everyone?), so they can't be in the running until we see them play in the Playoffs.
There are others but I don't feel like mentioning them; like the Spurs who are getting stomped by the TB's right now.
In conclusion, yeah, there's still questions. Lots of them.

At least we'll have yet another concept to consider this week when the Celts play the Cavs and the Magic back-to-back, and the Magic play the Celts and Cavs in this alternating pattern of every 3-5th game. The Cavs/Celts play once more after the one this week.
