Everybody seems to think LeBron is headed to Broadway.

As Lee Corso says, "Not so fast my friends."

After doing some research on 2010 FA's I think I have assembled a team that would make Knicks fans happy.

G-Duhon. Solid if not spectacular PG.

G-Joe Johnson. Big guard they need in NY. Has tied with Mike.

F-Amare. Low post beast they have needed since Patrick left.

F-Chandler. This guy is a young stud.

C-Lee. Would have to play C since Amare prefers PF.

And they go out and sign

G-Antonio Daniels. Gives them a veteran backup to Duhon.

G-Raja Bell. Gives them a solid 3-point shooter in Mike's frenetic offense.

F-Matt Harpring. Solid veteran that can hit the 3 and do the dirty work.

F-C (Resign )Tim Thomas. Can play all 3 frontcourt position's and play C when they want a 3-point presence at center. Had his best years under Mike in Phoenix.

C-Battie. Banger and rebounder albeit undersized.

To go with leftover players Eddy Curry, Gallinari and Jared Jeffries plus whatever draft picks they have in the ensuing years.

Now the bench players I went out and signed in Daniels, Bell, Harpring and Battie arent the flashiest but they would provide a veteran influence off the bench to help offset the young starting lineup.

In addition they would all sign for veteran miniumums since they arent in their prime anymore. But still capable of playing 12-15 mpg and play a supporting role.

This team would be able to compete for an Atlantic Division title with the Celtics.

Solid squad. The good thing is that by the 2010-2011 season the Celtics would be a little older. There true competition in the long run would be the Sixers but with this squad the playoffs would be attainable.

That could be a scary team right there.... but Knicks fans only want James.

James, Bosh, or Wade but this is a realistic and attainable squad.

Thank goodness for reality.

Of course I am assuming that Brand and Iguodala get on the same page and that thing they are planning works out.

The C's will still be a solid squad EJ. Pierce and KG stay in peak shape.

That'd be a pretty solid team. You know the Knicks, though... They like to be in the headlines. Would Walsh build a solid team like this one, or would he spend every penny on Lebron without giving him a supporting cast? Good post, dj.

Interesting scenario.

It may all come down to a sort of "snowball effect". That is, the first big free agent they're able to sign will spell "possible championship contending team" to other free agents on the market.

The team you pointed out could very easily be a championship team, if Joe Johnson and Amare continue to progress with their game, as expected.

David Lee is already improving his game by leaps and bounds.

Good blog!

Interesting team.

I really doubt Lebron is leaving the Cavs anyway, the Knicks need to think of some second tier players they would like.

Nice. the knicks need to do something.

Yes! Finally, some logic in all these Knicks rebuilding schemes. Good job.
