Brett Favre retires! And this time it looks like it's for real and as I predicted it was Peter King who broke this story. Actually I thought it would either be Peter King or Greta Van Sustern who would break the story. But, now it looks like Brett is done for real as King says that Brett's injury has yet to heal and he refuses to have surgery. As a Packer fan I grew tired of Brett's retirement saga that he put the fans and the organization through every year. Nor did I appreciate the way he handled the fiasco last year when he demanded his release so he could potentially play for one of two division rivals, a scenario no other team would agree to if put in the same situation.
But, now what. I would love to see Green Bay sign Brett and allow him to retire as a Packer.
Packer fans are a forgiving bunch, especially under the circumstances. Sign Brett, allow him to retire as a Packer, retire his number and allow him to live as the greatest Packer QB ever.
It's the right way to end a career.

I don't think he ruined it, but, it certainly did take a hit with the way he left and the things he said that later were disproven. All things can be forgiven, and this is one of them. No one faults him for trying to continue to play nor should they fault the Packers for looking ahead and doing what they knew was best for the team.
