What do those two quotes and some Americans have in common beside the fact that the two songs, Mrs. Robinson and American Pie, and Americans are America? They all are turning away from baseball.

They cannot bere to watch anymore. The savior of baseball, Alex Rodriguez, has just tested postive for Anabolic Steriods as you know by now. It comes as an oddity that a sport with so many christians has had huge cases with cheating, lying, and gambling. As Simon and Garfunkal said in their hit, "Mrs. Robinson", we turn our eyes to the people who are icons, but they cannot bere to watch, in that case, Joe DiMaggio. But in sports today, who are the real role models? In baseball, steriods rule, and when the greatest record of all was broken, one act caught me by surprise; Hank Aaron was there over video. Not classy. In football, the badasses get praised, and the good guys get buried. Avery says absolutely pointless things, kids in college are smoking weed, partying nonstop, and some are involved in crimes. Now, I realize I am only 14, but it used to be different. Walter Payton, Cal Ripken Jr., Jim Brown, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Brooks Robinson, and many more were good citizens, good sports (and good at them too), and good role models. They didn't have GM's that are money **** that wants his team to have the image as a bad-ass team so he goes and gets Terrell Owens, Tank Johnson, and Adam "Pac-man" Jones.

Just think about it.
