Hardly an original thought -- I know. People have been calling for his head for years. But yesterday provided the latest bit of proof why Selig probably isn't the right guy to lead baseball into the next era. I actually respect the show of emotion -- it is nice to see his passion for the game at a time like this. He is mad and has a right to be, but punishing ARod for this solves nothing. First off, it is not consistent with the action taken in the past. Andy Pettitte and Rick Ankiel both admitted that they used HGH to overcome injury....is illegally obtained HGH less of a crime than illegal steroids? What about Jason Giambi? I suppose you could say that he never actually admitted publicly that he had used steroids. He just said he was sorry. So ARod takes a fall because his apology included the word "steroid"? Selig is mad because he rules over a tainted sport, and the taint grows almost daily. But the Golden Boy was going to save the day. He was going to erase Bonds' name from the most hallowed record in all of American sports. Better still, he was going to do it in the uniform of arguably the biggest franchise in sports -- so not only was he fixing the record books, but he was going to make lots of people lots of money in the process. That's ruined now, and Selig finds himself in a familiar spot. Here is a player that was cheered by the masses (and by Bud) while hiding a secret. Now that we know the secret, he's just another guy that let us (the fans) down. Bud can stew all he likes, but to me, it has never been more clear that he needs to go.

Selig has no backbone, to stand up to the union, that's why steroids ran rapid in baseball for the last 20 years. Seligh needs to go and so does the officials of the union, especially Fehr
