We've had athletes cut themselves opening DVD's, injure themselves coming out of the shower & tripping over the couch, & now the best skier in the world joins that group.
Lindsay Vonn, who has been tearing up the skiing world this winter cut her thumb opening a champagne bottle during a celebration over winning a downhill race at the world championships in France. Oops. I mean really. She had to leave & go to Austria to have it repaired. The choice was a major operation that would have ended her season, or what she ended up doing, which was a stop gap that allows her to continue racing, but has a 50% chance of rupturing the tendon. Nice.
Like I said in a previous post, the only thing that would prevent her from owning next years Olympics would be an injury, & I hope this doesn't cause problems next year. Bode Miller, Mr party animal, has had an awful year because of an ankle injury he sustained during a practice run. The kind of stuff that happens in every sport, but at least he didn't hurt himself celebrating a victory.
