In the headlines again and bringing to a close all talk or discussion of a coaching departure, it has been reported by Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, that in fact the Butler didn't do it. It, being to accept the Cardinals defensive co-ordinator position after it was offered to Steelers linebackers coach Keith Butler, upon the Steelers giving permission to interview Butler on Friday. Many reports regarding if the Steelers would give such permission have been written in the past week or so. A thorough account of which can be seen at profootballtalk.com.
The fact that Butler is staying and wanted to, means the coaching staff will be in it's third year together, something that hasn't happened for a new Steelers coach since the days of Chuck Noll. It is this type of fundamental continuity that allows the Steelers to be the organization they are and I applaud Butler for being able to see that grass isn't always greener on the other side. The Cardinals have decided to hired former Cowher staffer Billy Davis to be the defensive co-ordinator.
