Serious post:
The non-story that won’t go away (and we won’t let it, damn it!), well, won’t go away.
As spring training begins, details are emerging about the possible Cubs-Padres Jake Peavy that ultimately died months ago at the winter meetings.
Those details reveal just how close the Cubs were to landing the San Diego ace, where else Peavy may have ended up, and why talks broke down.
And, also, just what role did the Atlanta Braves - the other leading suitor for Peavy - play in the Padres/Cubs talks?
Read about it, with quotes straight from the horse's mouth...

I think he would still want to go to the Cubs, saying nice things about San Diego is just lip service. I think the Braves lost Peavy when they lost Griffey Jr. Adding Peavey would give the Cubs one of the best rotations in all of baseball. Now if we could get Soriano to take a pitch or two or learn to work the count a little deeper in the early innings.
