This is taking nothing away from Fuentes, he is a very good option at closer. Jose Arredondo is just a phenominal talent.
No one knows whether or not Fuentes can dominate like he did in the worst offensive division in the entire MLB, the NL west. While Arredondo absolutely dominated the solid AL West, along with every other team he faced.
Just look at what he accomplished in his first year.
ERA- 1.62
K/9- 8.1
W- 10
L- 2
Innings- 61
ER- 11
SO- 55
BB- 22
OPP.BA- .190
I'll save you some time and research, all of those except Innings and strikeouts are better than Fuentes. Jose was dominant plain and simple.
Now there is a question of experience, but how are you supposed to get experience if you aren't allowed to. Remember Frankie was inexperienced replacing an accomplished closer by the name of Troy Percival, and that ended up working pretty well.
Jose was brought up to be groomed to take over the closer role if K-Rod left. K-Rod left and Jose should be given his shot.
