If you have not seen the shot that Devin Harris made last night to win a game for the New Jersey Nets, please turn on a T.V.

The Nets were down 96-95 with 1.8 seconds to go and no timeouts following an Andre Iguodala three throw. The inbounds went to halfcourt where Devin Harris caught the ball, was blocked by Iguodala, and then still managed to get a shot off that went in before the buzzer from half court.

This has to be considered one of the greatest shots of all time. It was to win a game, and what Harris managed to do in just 1.8 seconds is unbelievable.

He was able to catch the ball, turn, try to throw a shot up, manage to catch the ball after being blocked, and then throw a shot up from halfcourt. This is all in 1.8 seconds.

I knew the outcome of the game before seeing several highlights, so I knew the shot counted and the Nets would win. Lets assume the shot did not count, or it did not go in. While the play was under review when I was watching these replays, I heard YES and Sportscenter announcers saying that a foul should have been called.

I'm sorry, aren't these the same people that ask officials to "swallow" their whistle at the end of a game. With 1.8 seconds, let the player decide it right? Can you imagine how irate the Sixer coach would have been had Harris been given three free throws with 0 time on the clock and the Nets down one? Chances are he makes 2/3 and the Nets win the game. (*Sorry to Darrius Washington Jr. on this). Following the game, we would have heard how it was near impossible for Harris to get a shot off. How you cant call a foul when a player is 50 feet away and with 1 second left. So why would the announcers get so angry over a non-foul call?

I'm not really one to defend referees, but it looks like the they are criticized no matter what happens.

*Darrius Washington Jr. was a Memphis Tigers player fouled with no time left, while attempting a 3 vs. Louisville in the Conference USA Championship game. The Cardinals were up by 2. This was the only way for Memphis to get into the NCAA tournament. Louisville had a bid already locked up. With no time left, Darrius was sent to the line with no one around him. Down by 2, he hit the first shot and missed the next two. The Memphis Tigers lost by 1 and missed the NCAA tournament. (I believe 2004/5).

Yes, this is what I do at 5:20 after not going to sleep and deciding not to go to class in the morning.

i know this is late, but i think the refs screwed up, but not for what sportscenter said.

nba starts the clock late. remember a few years back when derek fisher made that 3 with .4 seconds left. how could you shoot it that fast.

it was a fast shot, but not that fast.

Great Blog. I love the Nets. Favorite team ever. Vinsanity (Vince Carter) and Devin Harris rock.
