Is it just me or is this draft a little weak. Unless you want an offensive tackle, you are probably hoping the 2010 draft is here already. The two "safe" picks, Curry and Crabtree, aren't going to be great players. At best they'll have 2-3 pro bowls and play 10 years. Just my opinion, but this draft is a bit weak. Especially at the top. The middle of the draft is pretty solid though.
1. DETROIT LIONS - OT EUGENE MONROE, VIRGINIA: I'll say it again. This would make three of the last four years a Cavalier goes in the top 5. I think it's much smarter for them to get their elite OL here, then hope maybe sanchez slips to 20, or they can trad up with the 20. If nothing else, then get Freeman or Davis in the second.
2. ST. LOUIS RAMS - OT JASON SMITH, BAYLOR: Crab, Stafford, Sanchez, Curry are all possibilities also, but I think the biggest need is on the o-line.
3. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS - OLB AARON CURRY, WAKE FOREST: I didn't really believe the hype until monday rolled around. Still don't think he's top five, but he's getting so much buzz right now, it'll probably happen. I don't think he's any better than Jerod Mayo and he didn't go top 5.
4. SEATTLE SEAHAWKS - WR MICHAEL CRABTREE, TEXAS TECH: The injury shouldn't make any difference.
5. CLEVELAND BROWNS - DE/OLB BRIAN ORAKPO, TEXAS: Mangini picked Vernon Gholston last year with the Jets and even though that didn't work out exactly like they wanted, the Browns need a consistent playmaker on the front 7.
6. CINCINNATI BENGALS - DT B.J. RAJI, BOSTON COLLEGE: I thought about Moreno, Jenkins, Oher, or Everette Brown but I think Marvin Lewis knows his teams needs to get better up front on defense and with John Thornton likely leaving, they have a hole there.
7. OAKLAND RAIDERS - DE EVERETTE BROWN, FLORIDA ST: With Namdi Asomugha locking down opposing WRs, they need a guy that can get to the QB to take advantage of that coverage.
8. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS - OT MICHAEL OHER, OLE MISS: yeah...
9. GREEN BAY PACKERS - CB VONTAE DAVIS, ILLINOIS: Charles Woodson and Al Harris aren't getting an younger. Davis is the exact type of CB the PAckers love. Strong, physical corner thats best in man coverage.
10. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS - QB MARK SANCHEZ, USC: Taking the first QB off the board at #10 is more of a I want to be different thing than what might actually happen. However, I do believe that neither top QB in this years class are worth a top 10 pick.
11. BUFFALO BILLS - CB/FS MALCOLM JENKINS, OHIO STATE: They have a need at CB and FS, so which ever they decide he is, it'll work out either way.
12. DENVER BRONCOS - RB KNOWSHON MORENO, GEORGIA: I'm not confident about this pick. I think they might pick a defensive player who fits the new 3-4 they'll be running. But they don't have much inthe backfield. Shanahan was in love with rookie Ryan Torain, but this new coaching staff probably isn't. Don't surprised if it's Aaron Maybin or Vontae Davis here.
13. WASHINGTON REDSKINS - OL ANDRE SMITH, ALABAMA: Nine years after they picked a tackle from Alabama, they go for the encore. Chris Samuels will obviously still be the LT, which is perfect because Smith is still rusty blocking elite pass rushers. Put him ont he right side or even kick him inside to guard. Smith should be a steal at 13. Smith's off the field problems become a great thing for the Skins as Smith slips out of the top 10.
14. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS - OLB BRIAN CUSHING, USC: The new DC Gregg Williams will turn this defense around and Cushing is a good start.
15. HOUSTON TEXANS - DE TYSON JACKSON, LSU: Will be a fan favorite and the perfect compliment to Mario Williams.
16. SAN DIEGO CHARGERS - LB REY MAUALUGA, USC: Just makes too much sense...
17. NEW YORK JETS - QB MATTHEW STAFFORD, GEORGIA: You ask why would Stafford fall this far and I ask why not. It always makes draft day more interesting when a "top 5" guy falls and has to wait hours to hear his name. Then you get the awkward faces and the sweating. The acting like it doesnt btoher you when it really does...I'll be rooting for this to happen.
18. CHICAGO BEARS - WR JEREMY MACLIN, MISSOURI: would be a great day for Bears fans if Maclin falls to them. They let go of Marty Booker, Brandon Lloyd is a free agent, so that leaves Rashied Davis and Devin Hester as the top 2. Even if they pick up a WR in free
agency, they'll still need a WR.
19. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS - DT PERIA JERRY, OLE MISS: They have to fix the run defense and with Monte Kiffin's departure, they need to have the best personnel possible to make up for the great coaching they'll be missing.
20. DETROIT LIONS - OLB CLAY MATTHEWS, USC: So many things they need that I dont know where to go. They'll probably look to trade down or up depending on what happens before this pick, but for now I'll say that new coach Jim Schwartz will go with the nephew of one of his former players: Bruce Matthews.
21. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES - OT EBEN BRITTON, ARIZONA: It's just like the Eagles to pick a wildkitten...
22. MINNESOTA VIKINGS - WR KENNY BRITT, RUTGERS: They definetly need a WR and Britt is the prototypical WR for the west coast offense. Plus, Britt would add a red zone threat that the Vikings haven't had since Carter and Moss left.
23. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS - LB JAMES LAURINAITIS, OHIO STATE: I dont have anything to say about this terrible team...
24. ATLANTA FALCONS - DE MICHAEL JOHNSON, GEORGIA TECH: Abraham is getting up there in age and Johnson will certainly be a fan favorite. If anyone can get him to work and motivate him, it's Mike Smith. Pettigrew or Evander Hood would be good right here too.
25. MIAMI DOLPHINS - DE/OLB AARON MAYBIN, PENN STATE: Eventual replacement for Joey Porter...hopefully
26. BALTIMORE RAVENS - WR PERCY HARVIN, FLORIDA: A legitimate playmaker for Flacco to grown with.
27. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS - WR DARRIUS HEYWARD-BEY, MARYLAND: Hakeem Nicks might compliment Reggie Wayne better, but it's hard to pass up this kind of talent.
28. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES - RB CHRIS WELLS, OHIO STATE: I'll jump on the Eagles taking Beanie bandwagon, even though I don't think Beanie warrants a first round pick.
29. NEW YORK GIANTS - OLB MARCUS FREEMAN, OHIO STATE: EVery year a surprise guy sneaks into the end of the first round. Here's 2009's version.
30. TENNESSEE TITANS - C ALEX MACK, CAL: They have to start thinking about replacing Kevin Mawae when he retires. Mack gets to study behind one of the best centers to ever do it.
31. ARIZONA CARDINALS - CB DARIUS BUTLER, UCONN: They'll have a decision to make with this pick. There's a lot of options here.
32. PITTSBURGH STEELERS - OG DUKE ROBINSON, OKLAHOMA: They'll probably look ILB or DL here, but their running game suffered last year, largely because of their blocking. Duke is a great run blocker.

Finally someone who doesn't think detroit will take Stafford! Man I hope Denver doesn't pick Moreno. We need something on the D and with Maualuga there he'd be perfect or trade down for Laurinaitis (I've been spelling it wrong for so long) to a team that wants him bad enough and doesn't play in San Diego. Though him going there and curry going to KC would be a big test for denvers offence next season. I get your reasoning and in general like the draft quite a bit, it's hard to tell with Torain, he's had too many injuries early on in his career. He hopefully will come back healthy and with hillis and maybe a third round back and also bell. Moreno would be a luxury that Denver can't afford to try. Hopefully McD and Xman know what they're doing and make sure we get a guy who will lead our D for more than a Decade (like Urlacher or Lewis)

All I know is you have two ASU Sun Devils, Josh Barrett and Ryan Torain...so the Broncos are already Champions in my book.

Good mock draft. I still don't get why it's a given the Jets take a QB but good mock up nonetheless.

Stafford may not be as good as bradford, but if he's there at 17 I don't know why I wouldn't try him out. Favre said he was done again right?

I think the Chiefs go tackle again at 3, even after they took Branden Albert last year. I think Jason Smith or Munroe is better value at 3 than Curry.
I don't think the Falcons take Michael Johnson. He takes plays off, he is not a Mike Smith type of player. Watch the Raiders take him or Heywood-Bey.
Plus, I think the Packers take an pass rush linebacker for their 3-4. If Orakpo or Everette Brown lasts til 9 they're there.

Really?? I'm not going to complain if that happens farther curry drops the better! About the packers there is a lot of talk about them taking Raji (if he's available) to anchor their line in the new 3-4. Orakpo or Maybin would be good choices for them

Always, I agree, I'm not a huge Aaron Curry fan, as I stated, but it's a fact that the Chiefs biggest weakness last season was their run defense...and pass defense really, but the worst was thier run defense. Aaron Curry will instantly improve that phase of their game. Idk how much, but an improvement nonetheless. KC will certainly have options with that pick though. Especially if Stafford and Sanchez falls to 3...they will probably get calls for trading down.
