First off im pretty new to Nascar as a true fan. The first year i first started watching whole races was Kasey Kahnes rookie year, lol something about his crew jumping into Tony Stewerts pitt box and brawling struck a cord with me. anyway iv been a die-hard fan ever since. now and again i watch old races on ESPN Classics and it really helps me understand where this sport has come from. Even in the last few years alot of huge changes have been made to Nascar like the chase, COT, and the top 35 rule. heres a few changes id like to see and i know alot of other people would 2.
1. Cut the top 35. Cut it down to say top 25 at most top 30. i understand the need to keep sponsers happy, it keeps money flow high. but ur cutting out is the real meaning of qualifying. its suppose to show what teams did their homework and its suppose to put the fastest cars in the race. i believe Nascar is killing alot of small teams alone with this rule.
2. Impound every race: wanna make things interesting? this is how u do it. this would make crew chiefs earn their paychecks and challange everyone of them. it should be, what u qualify with is what u should start off with in the race.
3. Get rid of some tracks: the "Cookie Cutters" kill me! not that there not interesting, but because theres so many of them. also because it seems like people have no idea how to think outside the box so to speak. ya people hate Pocono but u have to admit its different. another reason to get rid of certain tracks is because well honestly they suck lol. California is the one that comes to mind so does LVS. if nothing else limit how many races they can host a year to just one.
4. bring some tracks back: Bring back Rockingham! lol among others. nascar was a grass roots org back in the day. how about paying some respect to some of the tracks that help build nascars reputation? it wasnt built by the likes of Fontana or any of those places.
5. change the schedule: from Daytona to Fontana? r u kidding me!?? i have a friend who works for one of the mid-teir teams and he tells me that trip alone kills teams, even the larger ones. i know alot of people have brought this up, but seriously why not slowly make ur way west. or at least give a couple of weeks in between races. another way to change the schedule is and i know this wont happen but it would be nice. for a change add a couple of "Down home" tracks, and rotate from year to year. i see nascar sanction tracks all over the place. every year give a couple of these places a race. ya u wont make as much money or u might need to add alot of bleachers but i know people will come to see the race wherever its at. heck while im dreaming add a dirt track to see just how good some of these guys r lol.
6. COT: Sorry i know its here to stay and i dont like it. reminds me to much of Match Box cars. by raise of hands if a COT didnt have any markings of any kind on it would u be able to tell its manufactor?? if u can ur a better man than me. part of what made nascar great was the car brands and the ability to identify with a certain make or model. Since nascar wont budge on the car how about at least allow them to change the nose like they did with the old car or something please!
7. Tires: GOODYEAR u suck!! i dont know how much they make off a deal with nascar but the CEO has to be laughing his **** off as he counts the money hes banking. i say every race that has a serious tire issue i.e Indy the following year bring in a different tire company and give them a shot at the same race. i have to agree with Smoke on this one. something has to be done. if nothing else make Goodyear fight for its next contract.
8. Limit Teams: France had to be smoking something good when he made the rule about a 4 car limit and then left a huge loop hole in it. Come on his he really that stupid?? okay okay ya i think he is but anyway...lol but if u look at it Roush has a partnership with Yates, is anyone surprised how well Roush cars ran at Daytona?? i wasnt with Yates help. how about Hendrick and Stewert/Haas or DEI and Ganassi? im sure theres no way to completely control who helps who but the rule has to be tightened. this is another way small teams r being killed
9. Salary Caps: im sure ill be hammered for this one lol but part of the problem with nascar is that it got away from small down home teams to these super teams with all this money. Limit how much sponsers can put into a team and have a overall cap number. say for instance. 10 million (just a figure) total can come in from sponsers. Sponsers make this sport go round so limit it. this would allow more sponser to come in and it would spread the wealth around so to speak.
10. The Chase: the chase is flat out boring. i dont want to go back to the old system either. the same races every year, the same tracks bringing in a ton of cash. 10 races and u change them every year. Homestead is nice but it doesnt deserve to host the final race every year. i say give every track a chance to host the final race. then to make it interesting make a couple of mystery races. what i mean by that leave say leave 2 races blank. the teams dont know where the races are at till the week before or at least dont reveal them untill the All-Star race or something.
other than grammer and spelling (its late im sorry lol) im sure theres alot of holes in what i have to say, but i think there good ideas that would help. i know France has his eyes on Seattle and New York but one thing i learned when i lived in GA no matter where nascar has its races, nascars home is in the south and France is an idiot if he doesnt understand that. Honestly i dont think he really cares either, but he will if the crys get loud enough. thank u and im open minded so if im wrong please feel free to tell me. lol from what iv read so far people have no problem with that.

1.. Cut out top 35 all together.. you make it in on your qualifying time or you go home.. period!!
2.. Agree with you on this
3.. Agree with you to a point.. Pocono should not have 2 race dates.. any track that doesn't sell out both race dates loses one
4.. same as #3
5.. Nascar doesn't want the west coast people to feel left out and they'll never stop trying to please those people. You can forget about racing on dirt.. will never happen.. cot cars aren't built for it and some of these drivers couldn't handle it.. myself wouldn't mind seeing them at least try it
6.. Agree.. hate the COT.. Nascar stands for stock car.. there's nothing stock about these cars
7.. If they fail again with Indy like last year.. I think Nascar will look into another tiremaker
8.. No way to limit teams from dealing with other teams.. Chevy teams will always get engines from Hendrick or Childress and the Fords with Roush and Yates. Everyone forms partnerships in one way or another
9..Sponsors are doing that now by not sponsoring a full season with a team. Alot of teams have now gone multi-sponsor to help with cost.. but gone are the days where the ma and pa race teams can come to the track and compete
10.. Never have liked the chase format.. but its better than what they had and I don't see them changing anytime soon
Good points in this blog.. it had some good stuff in it

i understand ur point about Pocono, it hurts me to say this. Maybe its just cause im from PA and love how the track is different. It should have only one race, if nothing else shorten the length. i watch the start, nap, and wake up for the finish. My point is when designing a track, nascar needs to think outside the box. Cookie cutters r just boring and theres to many of them. variety is the essence of life and there needs to be more it when it comes to designing. I love Indy, dover, and Martinsville cause there different.

1.) The top 35 rule can go away now. When it was put in was a few years back, when the economy was doing good and you could expect to see 50 cars trying to make races. Now, it really shocks me they have a full 43.
2.) Impound races suck!
3.) Cookie Cutters Suck!
4.) Rockingham and North Wilkesboro, good old fashioned down home roots short tracks. We need more of these and less Cookie Cutters!!!
5.) "working west" wouldn't work, the truck still has to go back to Charlotte, then head out to the next track... nothing they can really do about it.
6.) COT is for safety, yeah it sucks, but it is working see the Texas Qualifying wreck a while back! As far as them looking right... they havn't really resembled their real market cars in about 15 years.
7.) Goodyear does suck... they need to open it up. Back in the 80's they let Hoosier in and a few teams used them. But the tire companies competing started to sacrifice some safety for performance to try to get other teams to use it... I am all for options. You want to use Firestone that offer better grip but wear out faster than Goodyears, or Michelin's that get super longevity at the sacrifice of grip, it adds strategy to the mix.
8.) Team limit, again another by product of 50 cars trying to make the field. There are so many ways around this it isn't funny, so it's almost a waste of time.
9.) Salary cap, no way to police this one in NASCAR, too much money spent on R&D and machines and weird stuff to make it work. Not quite like the NFL/NBA
10.) I dont like the chase, but it was put in to keep the points winner from clinching with 3 to go which happened alot... They need to redo the entire points structure. More emphasis on winning, make everyone lower the 27th get the same amount of points so there aren't damaged cars putting around the track.
