I am still struggling to understand how the Chiefs could get Matt Cassels and Vrabel for a 2nd round draft pick.  Wasn't everyone saying it would take a first and a second to get Cassels alone?  I just don't understand this at all.  It feels like the Patriots got fleeced or Matt Cassels is the most overrated QB ever.  Was it the fact his Franchise tag salary made him too much of a cap hit in this economic downturn where everyone was backing off and the Pats were going to get stuck with the guy?

 Please help me understand...

As a Patriots fan -- I am pissed. I loved Mike Vrabel and though he alone was worth a third rounder. Cassel alone was definitely worth a second or third rounder. I think they should have traded Cassel and Vrabel for possibly a first and fourth or fifth rounder. I'm not happy.

Actually, I take it back. I thought it over and think this could be a very good move.

Yeah, what the hell was up with that. one draft pick for a starting caliber quarterback and linebacker? I'm obviously no Pats fan but that is just stunning

Even Banks was surprised at this. It must be the economy. The pats were afraid to get stuck with a 14 million a year backup. It is interesting though... how the pats lost out on a first round pick last year and again this year cause they gave away Cassels. That is 2 first round picks in a league where the draft is everything.

It's pretty surprising, to be sure. Maybe Bill is helping out his old buddy Scott and doesn't think he can get anymore than that elsewhere? Teams weren't exactly burning up the phone lines trying to get Cassel... there's a lot of good QBs both from the draft and from free agency that can be had, I guess the Pats didn't think they could get any better...
