Let's get this outta the way. I think that TO is a handful. I think he's a distraction. I have no problem with getting this guy off your team. But why in the world would you cut him? Why would you also cut Roy Williams. TRADE EM!!!!! I understand that it might have been hard to find a trade partner for either but it seems like Dallas never even tried this rout.
TO is aging. He only has one playoff win, and that was with San Fran. But you cannot deny that he changes the makeup of opposing defenses. You get double teams on him, you get teams that make the mistake of leaving him open. I know he has had a problem with drops but the guy has talent. He has trade value also. You don't think that you coulda got a draft pick or two for him? I get shipping him out. You have WR williams, miles austin, TE witten. I just think you could have got something other than a 9 million dollar cap hit cut.
Roy Williams. This one I don't get. At least with TO you had someone in the other roy williams to take his place. Ken Hamlin is gonna be real alone out in the secondary now. If Dallas decides to get a safety in the draft, it's still a toss up if that player will be an NFL all star. Also it's gonna take a while to get them up to NFL level. I don't know many safetys in free agency right now. Williams would have drawn interest. I guess Darren Sharper is available but hes been down the past few years. I don't quite understand.
The Cowboys were one of the favorites at the start of last year. Can anyone say that they are this year? Washington has made huge free agent pickups in Shawn Springs, Albert Haynesworth and resigning Hall. The giants will have Umenyiora back and they picked up Canty to join Umenyiora and Tuck on the line. They have only lost Derrick Ward. The Eagles I'm not to sure about since they lost two Safetys and havn't picked up any replacements. But I'd have to put Dallas third or maybe even fourth in the division.
No doubt the Cowboys have talent. Romo (when he wants to), Whitten, and one of the best linebackers corp around. Ware, Bradie James, these guys are pro-bowlers. But I think Dallas has lost a lot of what made them favorites. Stranger things have happened but I think the Cowboys will be on the outside looking in. Again.
