I've played some of the craziest poker I've ever seen in the last two nights. I had a blast, don't get me wrong, but I wouldn't recommend these games to my worst enemy.
To begin with, the person hosting both games started them at 6PM, and expected them to be over at 9:30. So he had massively increasing blinds every 15 minutes.
Then, he invited people who simply called everything.
Case(s) in point.
** Last night the guy on the button raised preflop, twice the big blind. I"m on the big blind, and I call with 3-5...because that's the game they're playing.
Flop comes K-J-3. He bets minimum...I reraise all in.
He calls....with 3-4. Yep, you see that correctly. 3-4, hit third pair with a 4 kicker, and called an all in. Now, I'm ahead, so I don't care.
We chop a pot his ignorant tail should not have been in to begin with.
** Another hand. Preflop I raise. Small blind flat calls.
Flop A-K-J. I shove all in.
He calls. Pocket 7's.
** It was that way for two straight nights. One guy called from the button. Big blind shoves all in. Button calls...with J-6 offsuit.
** Board is 3-4-8-9-A. I shove all in with A-K on the river. Call....with 10-J. Now, reread that if you didn't get it. I got called, on the river, by a guy with 4 to a straight and nothing better in his hand than a Jack high.
So it was fun, and quite entertaining, to say the least. And that's the least I'll say. If there was anything better than American Idol to watch or do the last two nights, I would have done it.
