Played in a $35 buy in, 20 person game tonight. Started with 10,000 chips, but with blinds starting at 100-200, that's only 50 big blinds, so it went quick. Ended up 3rd, cashed for $120, and home by 11:00. And that my friends, are the highlights of the evening.
Sometimes winning is just winning. Nothing special, nothing unusual, nothing exciting. Sometimes you just play and win.
Speaking of the blinds though, lets look at some numbers. A 10,000 game with 100/200 starting blinds is 50 big blinds.
An 8,000 starting stack with 50/100 starting blinds it 80 big blinds.
A 7,000 starting stack with 25/50 starting blinds is 140 big blinds.
A 2,000 starting stack with 5/10 starting blinds is 200 big blinds.
So which one is really a DEEP STACK tournament?
Tonight we started with 10,000 chips, but wiith blinds at 100/200 to start, and doubling each time they went up, it actually was one of the shortest stack games I've played in awhile.
Just something for you to think about when you're setting up your home games. It isn't the starting stack that is most important...it is the starting BLINDS in relation to the starting stack.
