I proved last night that no matter how good you may perceive yourself to be...if you are card dead, you can't win at poker. 

Simple tournament, 10,000 starting chips, decent blinds, 20 people....and zero cards to play.  I looked down at 6-2, 8-3, 4-10, J-4...all night long.  And when I'd make a move, someone would either come over the top or call and then bet the flop I missed.  It was a very long night made even slightly interesting by the fact that I dealt to the end, and the money winners basically tipped me my entry fee back. 

But if I'm going to accept the game last month where every time I looked down I had A-A, K-K or Q-Q...then I have to accept that last night is going to happen occasionally too.

Plus, over the last 4 weeks I have bought in for $30, $35, $40 and $40 (total $145) and cashed out $263....so it isn't like its been a bad 5 days. 

Not playing anymore til Saturday, where I'll be in a 5 game series where the overall winner after 5 games gets an entry into the World Series of Poker.  I like tournaments like this because it rewards long term success over any one single game.  I've played in a couple where the winner of one single game gets the buy in, and that can possibly reward one donkey who makes a stupid call.  I much prefer giving the buy in to someone who proves over 5 games that any single win wasn't just a fluke. 

For example, the first year I played in this series I played a straight perfectly and got a guy with trips to call all in.  The river paired the board and he won.  How bad would it have been to have the money awarded on this one simple hand? 

On another note, I'll be in Vegas from 23-27 Apr, if anyone is interested in getting together out there.  On Thursday, the 23rd, I don't expect much gambling, since it will be our first night there.  So if you want to come have a good time and a bunch of shots, that's the night to get there.  Otherwise come play some tournaments and cash with us the rest of the weekend.

We're staying at the Venetian, so I'd expect some play there.  But we won't miss out on taking some drunk money at the Hard Rock and other places too.
