There is a rumor that Matt Jones is a possibility for Jerry. My opinion is that he'll be in Dallas this year. Yea, the guy has had problems. the truth is, we need to take a chance on him. People are saying that he is a first round bust. Baloney. He is a QB. trying to learn a new position. Matt has improved in each of his 4 seasons. Last year Jones had 761 yards receiving in 12 games. project that to 16 games and thats over 1,000 yards. Matt is 25 years old & he'll get a fresh start in Dallas. Jerry loves this guy, both are Arkansas' alumni. Unless someone signs him soon, he'll be in Dallas. This guy has alot of speed although he hasn't been a deep threat. This guy can move the chains because his 4.3 speed forces defenders to give a cushion. As far as Dallas' fans not wanting problem players in Dallas? Ask the fans of the Saints whether they'd trade teams with the 90's Cowboys who had a few players fail drug test? I'll gve Matt Jones a shot in Dallas. He'll be a "go to guy" on 3rd downs. Case closed.
Here are some of the receivers in April's draft that might be around in the 3rd round? Dallas isn't gonna go WR. in the 2nd round. Jones said its not a priority. Dallas might go receiver in the 3rd or 4th round.
Austin Collie BYU. 106-1,538 14.5 15 TDs Juaquin Iglesias OKLA. 74-1,150 15.5 10 TDs
Patrick Turner USC 49-741 15.1 10 TDs Louis Murphy FLA. 38-655 17.2 7TDs
Mohammad Massaquoiu GEO. 58-920 15.8 8 TDs
Tiquan Underwood RUT. 40-494 12.4 5 TDs
Jarrett Dilliard RICE 87-1,310 15.0 20 TDs
Brandon Tate NC. 16-376 23.5
Sammie Strouder ORE. St. 70-1,040 14.8 7 TDs
I think this guy Collie is an excellent pocession type receiver. He has run a sub 4.4 40 and is 6'2" tall. Dallas needs to become a dink and dunk offense without a burner. They need to run the ball and control the clock. They certainly have the backs, they need a few receivers to move the chains. Forget about the other receivers. they are not polished route runners. Austin has a high average per catch because he beats corners with speed not moves or route running. They need receivers to help Roy Williams.
Don't be shocked if Dallas tries to trade Barber during the draft. He is coming off his worst season in his career. Barber averaged a paltry 3.7 per carry in 08 while the two rookies combined to average 6 yards per carry. The 07 season was a mirage. Barber is just in the way now. Lets face it fans, Barber was thoroughly outclassed by Choice and Felix Jones. Put him on the trading block or put him back as the 4th quarter guy although he'll be grossly overpaid. I will be steaming if I see Barber starting and we go 3 and out which we will. Barber will lose his starting job in preseason if no one takes his contract. Our backs will have alot of success this year which will help set up the pass.
