The Steelers just once again show everyone that this team's history is overrated. If they played in the NFC East, they would've had less success. The 70s teams were great but they faced teams in their division that were weaker then Dallas' division foes. Since Super Bowls began in 1966, Dallas is 11-8 vs. the Steelers, this record includes the Super Bowls. The Steelers are 22-36--3 .360. vs. the division foes of the Cowboys.
SUPER BOWL HISTORY 1966-08
PITTSBURGH STEELERS
VS. NFC EAST
Pittsburgh vs. the St. Lous/Arizona Cardinals 7-8-2
" vs. Philadelphia Eagles 4-11
" vs. New York Giants 5-9-1
" vs. Washington Redskins 6-8
Totals 22-36-3 . .360
" vs. Dallas Cowboys 8-11 .421
The NFC EAST is an elite division. Over the years, all the teams except the Cardinals have had some great to good to very good teams. The division foes have combined to win 6 Super Bowl titles and 11 Conference Championships. The Steeler division foes have combined to win just I Super Bowl and 3 Conference Championships. As you can see the Steelers winning pct. is .360 vs. Dallas' division foes. Keep in mind that Dallas faced these teams 8 times a year. Would the Steelers have won it all in the 70s anyway, yes but the last 2, its certainly possible they wouldn't have. Face it, Dallas' division is much stronger then the Steelers' division. If you argue that, what happened!? Enough said.
