I think that fans throughout every sport can relate with what I am going through right now... rebuilding. When I was a wee lad of the age of 5 The Nordiques moved here. I had expected them to kind of struggle at first like the Rockies. But they came in and did what the Nuggets and Broncos failed to do for decades... win a championship. Ever since then, the Avs have been one of the most dominant teams on ice, and even managed to hold on to a sense of success after the lockout. But like most of the high priced teams before the lockout got poned by the lockout (Kudos Detroit, I gotta admit, you did great in the transistion). But as an avid Avs fan, I am in uncharted waters. A celler team.
While it kills me to see this, I think that this could be good. What if my boys land John Taveres or another great prospect. It is a weird feeling becuase it will be the first draft where the prospect is more than just future trade bait for some superstar. While I know it will end, I just still can't believe that when I listen to the NHL draft, I actually have to be on time for the Avs pick.

Unless they are able to draft tavares or pull some magic in the offseason it'll be pretty similar story next year. Rest of the division is getting better (unless Vancouver loose the Sedins). Oh and Tavares is most likely going to Atlanta I bet seems the east get all the young studs. Sucks, but I see it happening. Is Sakic retiring or coming back next season?
