Everyone remembers the Ole Miss vs Florida game last year. After 4 quarters and a failed 4th and short run by Tim Tebow, Ole Miss beat Florida 31-30. However, the moment everyone will forever member was the post game press conference where Tebow cried and said that Florida would be back. He then left, and left behind a bunch of writers falling in love with him. Everyone knows what happened from there: Another national championship in the Swamp. Well, good news, now everyone will never forget this, as the Gators have engraved the speech and placed it outside the Gators practice facility. Alright, where do I need to begin?
I hate this speech. I swear this is one of the very few times I've heard a player crying be applauded. Yeah, he deserved to cry, seeing as his play in that day's game ultimately meant a loss for Florida. I'm going to say this flatout, it's not because it's a Florida player saying this. You might not believe me, but I know it's true. I would have been embarassed if Matthew Stafford made a speech like this with tears in his eyes last year after losing to Alabama. It's just not something I think a football player, much less a QB, should do. And the hate mail comes pouring in.............
Here's a comment by Brandon Spikes that makes me dislike Tebow even more: "I felt like he was a prophet for saying it. He just said it and we got it done. He was a prophet." Good leader? Absolutely. PROPHET? NO! This is what I hate about Tebow. Is he a good football player, yes, good person, yes, but most of these people think that he's God's other son that no one knows about yet. I like Tebow for his dealings in Christianity, but I draw the line after that.

For the times, they are a-changin'.
You wouldn't think that a guy, especially a football player, getting so emotional on national TV would get respect, but it motivated the poo out of his team. The sports media does have a crush on him, but he's not God's gift to football, and I'm pretty sure most people with half a brain know that. Meyer and Spikes like to talk him up, but he's their teammate. The media likes to talk him up b/c he's a good player and politically correct. (Wow!) The truth is, he's just football player. I know I'm Georgia and I may be biased, but Tebow is not holier than thou, even if he tries to act like it.

The speech was kind of embarrassing when it happened. But it was pretty awesome that the rest of the season turned out the way it did after the speech. Sort of like Joe Namath's silly prediction before Super Bowl 3...which instead of being silly..made him a legend when he delivered the goods.
